Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, volunteered at a Los Angeles bakery this week operated by the nonprofit Homeboy Industries where they rolled up their sleeves and got to work.

The organization’s mission is to provide training and support for former gang members and those who have served time in jail so they can become productive members of the community.

The already wealthy socialites have separately found a way to rake in the dough that won’t involve any heavy lifting or baking.

“The couple could be seen helping out to bake bread, as well as folding dough and sorting out food boxes for the vulnerable in their new hometown,” the Daily Mail reported. “Harry and Meghan’s spokesman said ‘the duchess mentioned that the spirit and style reminded her of the times she visited the Luminary Bakery in London’, a social enterprise that offers disadvantaged women in the UK new opportunities.”

The organization which indicates that it is the largest such reentry program in the world said that “our staff was thrilled to work alongside them as they helped prepare food and learned more about our newly launched #FeedHOPE program…”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex staged a Megxit in early 2020 by separating themselves from the U.K. royal family and their royal duties, first moving to Canada and then to the U.S., to pursue an independent lifestyle. They are now renting Tyler Perry’s $18 million mansion in L.A.

Finding a permanent home in an upscale L.A. neighborhood for the family, which includes son Archie, shouldn’t be a problem because they just signed a big contract to do lucrative speaking engagements with the same agency that represents the Obamas and the Clintons.

They will allegedly get about $1 million per speech.

This new venture raises a key question: Who would you be least likely to pay to hear virtue-signal in delivering a speech prepared by a ghostwriter: the Obamas, Clintons, or the Sussexes?

According to the Los Angeles Times, the couple will “focus on social issues such as racial justice…gender equity and environmental concerns. They will also speak on mental health.”

“By choosing the Harry Walker Agency to represent them, they join an A list of Hollywood entertainers as well as some of the world’s most sought-after Democratic politicos: Michelle and Barack Obama, Hillary and Bill Clinton and rising party star Stacey Abrams.”

Volunteerism is a very commendable activity, regardless of whether this event was carefully curated to build their image. The couple does not appear to be publicity shy despite their supposed antipathy to the paparazzi or adverse to cashing in on their celebrity status in addition to setting up a charitable foundation.

Although the former Suits star and Deal or No Deal briefcase model is a duchess, non-fans perceive that she has taken on the mantle of the progressive Queen of Woke, with an apparently docile Harry just along for the ride.

Critics believe that Markle, who is estranged from her family, drove a rift between Harry and the Windsors that culminated in their departure from the British monarchy and for America.

Meghan Markle is perhaps the only anti-Trump celebrity that actually moved to Canada, before settling in the Hollywood area and the red carpet lifestyle.
