AOC reportedly raking in the dough, building a massive political team and ‘money machine’

First-term Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) is spending a lot of money but also raking in a lot of money for her political war chest and to fund a political “army.”

The far-left New York City Democrat with a national following, in part based on a social media presence, is “building a massive political team and an even bigger money machine,” The Hill reported.

As part of the political ambitions of the aggressive Trump foe, which includes moving her party even farther to the left (if that’s possible), she reportedly spent $6.3 million through June 3, which includes $3.2 million on Facebook ads since May 2018, evidently more than any other candidate.

This spending spree is occurring as AOC attempts to fend off a primary challenge from former CNBC anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, who reportedly has raised $2 million from business interests.

AOC has also raised $10.5 million in small donations for her second-term bid. The AOC campaign reportedly has spent $1.2 million on Facebook ads just in this cycle.

AOC, who represents New York’s 14th congressional district that covers portions of the Bronx and Queens, has apparently refused to debate Caruso-Cabrera ahead of the Tuesday, June 23, primary.

Like her or not, in contrast to most of her Democrat colleagues in the U.S. House, she has a lot of charisma, which can go a long way in politics, even if a lawmaker has no substance.

She’s also added about 40 staffers to her campaign, an unprecedented number “more typical of a top-tier Senate campaign than a congresswoman seeking reelection in a safely progressive seat.”

According to a political science professor, “Ambitious members of Congress spend a lot on overhead, whether it’s fundraising, consultants or staff. So, that’s not out of the norm for someone who fits that profile.”

Along those lines, President Trump has predicted on several occasions that she will primary Cryin’ Chuck Schumer for New York’s Senate seat that comes up in 2022 and “kick his ass.”

Robust fundraisers like AOC, who is in the top five in the House for money gathering, typically spread cash around to other campaigns, with the idea of calling in favors later.

AOC hasn’t exactly distanced herself from that possibility of running against career Democrat politician Schumer by any means. Not bad for a former bartender with only has a hazy idea about how the real world operates, despite (or maybe because of) an economics degree.

Actually, most bartenders possess far more common sense and practical knowledge, along with a solid work ethic, than this lawmaker.

As BizPacReview has previously observed, AOC has alienated herself from the business world — and at least some of her constituents — with her job-killing attack on Amazon and capitalism itself.

Economic populism is an area where reasonable liberals and the Trump-supporting, center-right can come together on certain issues, but AOC’s socialism is way out of the mainstream.

That hasn’t stopped alleged moderate Sleepy Joe Biden from appointing AOC — the champion of the radical Green New Deal who initially endorsed Bernie Sanders for president —  to co-chair his climate change task force.
