The New York Police Department’s plainclothes anti-crime unit was disbanded by NYC Police Commissioner Dermot Shea amid tantrums by left-wing outrage mobs.
Shea said he’ll disband the anti-crime unit immediately and will reassign the 600 plainclothes officers to other units.
“This is 21st-century policing,” Shea said. “This is a seismic shift in the culture of how the NYPD polices this great city. I think it’s time to move forward and change how we police in this city.”
Shea admitted that his decision is “not without risk” because it could cause a spike in crimes. However, he said the risk is “squarely on my shoulders.”
So if you or your loved one gets mugged, beaten, raped or murdered, Shea will feel bad about it for five seconds.
Former law-enforcement officials slammed Shea for bending the knee to the mob by disbanding a unit that has effectively fought crime since the 1960s.
The plainclothes anti-crime unit made the streets safer for millions of Americans for decades. But now, placating left-wing mobs is more important than public safety.
Former NYC Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik tweeted: “Plainclothes anti-crime cops have historically been responsible for the majority of gun and violent crime arrests in New York City. Dangerous times to come.”

Kerik also slammed the false anti-police narrative being pushed by the dishonest media.
“Nineteen unarmed white people were shot and killed by the police last year. Nine were black,” Kerik said. “Everybody is talking about the blacks that were unarmed and killed by the police, saying ‘that number is systemic. It is outrageous!’ There were 89 cops killed in this country in the line of duty last year. Nobody is talking about them.”
Police union president Pat Lynch issued a statement blasting the decision. Lynch said:
“Anti-Crime’s mission was to protect New Yorkers by proactively preventing crime, especially gun violence.
Shooting and murders are both climbing steadily upward [because police have been pulled back], but our city leaders have clearly decided that proactive policing isn’t a priority anymore.
They chose this strategy. They will have to reckon with the consequences.”
Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino was once a New York City police officer. He ripped commissioner Dermot Shea for caving to the mob.
Bongino: “This is a political decision by a politician acting as a law enforcement leader. Anti-crime precinct-based units and city-wide street-crime units locked up thousands of felons in NYC and saved even more lives.”

Shelby Steele is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, a public-policy think tank.
Steele said Democrats and the left-wing media are fomenting resentment among blacks to trigger a race war in order to gain power — specifically, to win back the presidency.
Steele said the Democrat Party’s strategy has remained unchanged for decades: Foster a victim mentality and an entitlement complex among black Americans.
Leftists suffering from toxic white guilt react by placating the angry black people that they whipped into a frenzy with their nonstop race-hustling.
Why? Because deep down inside, leftists believe that blacks are incapable of helping themselves. They need the help of leftist “white saviors.” The white saviors are pulling the strings because they want power.
“In order to pursue power as they do, you have to have victims,” Steele explained. “George Floyd is the archetypal victim, and his murder is sort of a metaphor for the grievance industry agenda.”
“Here is somebody tortured to death. The excitement that that triggers on the Left in America…validates their claims that America is a wretched country that they must get recourse for.
So it feeds this old model that America is guilty of the sin of racism and has been for for centuries. And minorities are victims who are entitled.
So when people start to talk about systemic racism built into the system, what they’re really doing is expanding the territory of entitlement.
[The victims mindlessly bleat] ‘We want more! We want more! We want the society to give us more. Society is responsible for us because racism is so systemic.’
Well, that’s a corruption. Because the truth of the matter is, blacks have never been less oppressed than they are to date. Opportunity is around every corner.”

Shelby Steele said the race war is happening because blacks and whites don’t admit the truth. “[They don’t have] the courage to look at black people and say, ‘You’re not carrying your weight,'” Steele said.
So instead of confronting the truth, the Left feeds into the victim mentality and entitlement complex. “I’m exhausted with that,” Steele said. “Stupidity is also endemic to the human condition.”
Steele added: “There is no excuse for us [black Americans] being where we are right now. We have let this guilty society and our grievance industry put us in this impossible position where we are a permanent underclass. Before the 1960s, there was no black underclass. That’s a new phenomenon.”
Steele said the permanent black underclass was created by the Left’s race-baiting agenda of encouraging black Americans to depend on the government through welfare and affirmative-action programs.
“If you’re not a Democrat who has owned up to all of this history, then you are not legitimate,” Steele said. “Today’s ‘civil rights movement’ does nothing but scream bloody murder, how dependent black people are on what whites do for them. That’s all they do.”
