Raging mob of protesters violently attack, threaten to kill man until he pulls out his gun. Why is he the one arrested?

A member of a violent New Mexico rage mob brought a skateboard to a gun fight, with the expected outcome occurring.

As seen in a viral video, a man is beating a hasty retreat from a left-wing protest at a monument of conquistador Juan de Oñate — the mob was calling for the statue to be removed, and began to take matters into their own hands with a pickax, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

This being a fair representation of the left-wing chaos in American streets today.

Members of the armed New Mexico Civil Guard, a civilian group, tried to protect the monument, intervening when the pickax was deployed, the newspaper reported — why local police were not involved is another question.

The man was reportedly among those trying to protect the statue, though its not clear if he is a member of the group.

There is absolute pandemonium in the street, as young protesters scream and try to pull the statue down. The man, later identified as 31-year-old Stephen Ray Baca, can be seen getting struck by a skateboard and retreating into the street.

The mob pursued Baca, who appears to be holding a handgun, as he steadily retreats backwards, facing his assailants.

After creating a little distance between the mob, Bacca turns and continues to move away. He’s clearly leaving the area, but when Bacca turned his back on the mob, they pounced.

He’s attacked and thrown to the ground as three or four thugs engage — according to the Journal, the man initially tried to keep the mob at bay with a can of pepper spray.

“We’re going to f**king kill you!” someone is heard screaming.

Seconds later shots ring out and the mob scampers away, leaving one wounded man behind.

The civilian guard is then seen securing a perimeter around the man who fired his weapon, as they awaited police to arrive.

As conservative pundit Michelle Malkin intimated in the tweet above, there was little media coverage of the man screaming that they were going to “f*cking kill” Bacca as they attacked him.

Albuquerque police engaged only after the shots rang out — to apparently apprehend the civilian civil guard, according to the paper.

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham — a Democrat, of course — condemned the violence and those who instigated it.

Not the violence of the mob attacking a retreating man and threatening to kill him, but the ensuing violence when Bacca was forced to defend his life.

Stunningly, she sided with the mob.

“Although we are still learning more about the situation, I am horrified and disgusted beyond words by the reports of violence at a protest Monday night in Albuquerque,” Lujan Grisham said in a statement. “The heavily armed individuals who flaunted themselves at the protest, calling themselves a ‘civil guard,’ were there for one reason: To menace protesters, to present an unsanctioned show of unregulated force. To menace the people of New Mexico with weaponry — with an implicit threat of violence — is on its face unacceptable; that violence did indeed occur is unspeakable.”

Baca was jailed on suspicion of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon — according to the criminal complaint, though, protesters “appeared to maliciously pursue him.”

Why that would not give him a right to defend himself is unclear.

It’s also unclear why police allowed the chaos to ensue up until the moment shots were fired.

The man who was shot was hospitalized in critical but stable condition, Albuquerque police spokesman Gilbert Gallegos told reporters.

After the shooting, the city removed the statue “until the appropriate civic institutions can determine next steps.”

Newsmax’s John Cardillo, a former NYPD officer, responded to the incident to say he would donate to Bacca’s defense fund, if charged — the tweet clearly coming before he knew the man was arrested.

“ANTIFA mob violently attacks a New Mexico man who tried to stop their crimes, he drew his legal weapon and shot one, they then scattered like rats,” he tweeted. “If this man is illegally charged, I will donate to his defense fund.”
