Professor: Black Lives Matter part of cultural Marxist agenda being used to win election, not help black people

Carol Swain black lives matter

Black Lives Matter is not a legitimate civil-rights movement but a puppet coalition being opportunistically manipulated by the Democrat Party to win the presidency. That’s the analysis of Dr. Carol Swain, a retired political science professor who was tenured at Vanderbilt and Princeton University.

“It’s part of the cultural Marxist agenda against America,” Swain told Fox News host Mark Levin. “[Democrats] are using black people to advance a radical agenda that will be destructive to our nation, that will hurt all of us. And it’s hurting us right now.”

Swain said the Democrats and their left-wing media lapdogs have an agenda: Divide and conquer.

And that’s why they’re scapegoating the police and Confederate statues: To ignite racial resentment and stoke a race war. Swain is a member of the Black Voices for Trump advisory board and the author of the 2002 book, The New White Nationalism.

Dr. Swain said she’s living proof that “systemic racism” is a left-wing canard being used to manipulate black voters into destroying the United States and seizing control of the White House.

Swain grew up in poverty in the rural South as one of 12 children. She got married at age 16 and pregnant at 17 and eventually had three children. After her divorce, she put herself through community college and Yale Law School.

“I am an American success story,” she said.

Dr. Swain said the Democratic Party is pushing the false narrative of “systemic racism” and fomenting the lie that all black people live in fear of the police.

This false narrative is being pushed this year because of the election,” she said. The reason why Swain knows this is because she was a Democrat until recently.

“I was a Democrat until 2009, so I always knew the Democratic Party was problematic,” Swain said. “It’s clear that this movement to tear down monuments is really to divide the country. So we’re all suffering as a result of this [left-wing] political agenda. It will not bring us closer together.”

Swain said Black Lives Matter, Antifa, and the left-wing media have an incentive to whip up racial division in order to grab power through emotional blackmail.

Mark Levin — an attorney — pointed out that the Democrats are complaining about “systemic racism” when Democrats have been running America’s biggest cities for 50 years, in many cases. In other words, the Left is the “system” they’re protesting.

Tellingly, all the cities that were torched during the recent race riots have been run by Democrats for years: New York, Minneapolis, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta.

Levin pointed out that Speaker Nancy Pelosi is opportunistically agitating about removing Confederate statues to incite a race war to hurt President Trump’s chances for reelection.

“Hasn’t Pelosi been there more than 30 years and was Speaker twice?” Levin asked. “She had every opportunity to remove those statues years ago.”

During Barack Obama’s first term as president, the Democrats controlled both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Levin wants to know why the Left didn’t complain about these statues when Obama was president.

Carol Swain said even if the Confederate statues got removed, “What is that going to do for people in these communities?”

Swain said mindlessly tearing down statues is a slippery slope to self-nullification.

“It’s important to not judge the past by the politically correct lens that we use today,” Swain remarked. “What happens tomorrow when the leaders that we celebrate today fall out of favor? It’s the wrong path for our nation. It’s divisive. It’s opportunism. And it’s just meant to stir up people.”

Levin noted that most people don’t know who are on these statues and don’t care. “There’s a bizarre purging, this sanitizing of history going on,” Levin said.

Dr. Swain said to understand one’s history, you need to get the full picture of it — not just the sanitized versions.

Levin agreed. He said if we judge the past by the politically correct lens of today, the Democrat Party — which supported slavery and Jim Crow laws — has a lot of cleansing to do.

Robert Byrd was a KKK leader and a celebrated Democrat senator for 51 years. Byrd was the longest-serving U.S. Senator in history and was once the Senate Majority Leader.

Similarly, former Vice President Joe Biden worked with segregationists and delivered the eulogy at Byrd’s funeral.

Levin noted: “If we’re going to purge society of all vestiges of slavery, segregation and racism…why don’t we purge the Democrat Party?”

He underscored: “Was it not the Democrat Party that led the Confederacy? Was it not the Democrat Party that gave birth to the Ku Klux Klan? Was it not the Democrat Party that throughout 100 years after the Civil War led the efforts on segregation and Jim Crow Laws?

Swain pointed out: “The Democrats also fought against the anti-lynching laws. [Since the 1960s] the Democrats have been manipulating black people. And they pay off the leaders. Nothing good trickles down to the masses. The Democratic Party has stood in the way of black progress. And it’s standing in the way right now.”
