Tucker: Republicans have a moral duty to defend us from this, but they are caving like cowards and liars

It’s been bad enough to see once-great institutions falling over themselves to appease the mob. But watching as congressional Republicans now follow suit is just plain unacceptable, according to Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

During his latest monologue Tuesday evening, the host used his platform on FNC’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” to take aim at Republicans who’ve either sat around twiddling their thumbs or outright bent their knee as the country has swiftly gone to hell.

His criticism of Republicans came after he spoke about the rise of Maoist-like mobs across the country who’ve been targeting people for punishment for refusing to kowtow to the demands of what appears to be a full-blown cultural revolution.

“Democrats are thrilled as they watch it,” Carlson continued afterward. “They believe they can win the November election by inciting tribalism and division and maybe they can. But what then? How do you put the country back together?”

Republicans have a moral duty to defend us from this, to stand up now, right now when it counts for America’s highest and most important ideals. This right now is the crisis that we all sensed was coming. This is why we voted for them. When it really mattered, they promised, they would fight to keep this country from falling apart.”

But they’re not. Instead, they’re caving like every other coward. Take Senate Majority Mitch McConnell, whom Carlson described as”the most powerful Republican in the Congress.”

“He runs the Senate,” the FNC host added. “That’s the one chamber Republicans still control. So what did Mitch McConnell, the Senate majority leader, do today as American society began to unravel?”

“Mitch McConnell did not defend the country, much less defend you. He read talking points that Nancy Pelosi could have written and that benefited only her.”

According to reports, earlier Tuesday afternoon McConnell announced that he’s putting together a team to pursue police reform legislation that would address alleged (and actually quite unproven) racial discrimination.

“I’ve asked Sen. Tim Scott to lead a group that is working on a proposal to allow us to respond to the obvious racial discrimination that we’ve seen on full display on our television screens over the last two weeks,” he reportedly told reporters.

It’s not clear what “racial discrimination” he’s seen. There’s no evidence George Floyd’s death by a police officer had involved racism.

To be fair, on Tuesday the majority leader also delivered a speech in which he defended the religious community’s right to attend church gatherings amid the grossly overhyped coronavirus pandemic:

However, what was missing was any searing criticism or indictment of the ongoing cultural revolution.

“These people are cowards, and they are liars,” Carlson continued. “They pose as your protectors, they would sell you out for the price of lunch and laugh as you were hauled away. At the very least, they could point out the endless lying all around us. There’s so much of it.”

Lies about everything, from the “peaceful protests” that were in fact riots to the patently false claim that black men are being hunted down by the police.

Fact-check: FALSE!

“And so with no pushback the lying continues,” Carlson continued. “It continues relentlessly in a torrent from everyone in charge, and no one stops it. No one even acknowledges it. After a while, no citizen, no one watching believes anything.”

“The few people who remember what America used to be like start to think maybe they’re going crazy, but they’re not going crazy. It’s not you, it’s them. The country really has changed and very fast.”

And despite claims otherwise from the left, it’s changed for the worse, with Americans now being fired from jobs left and right for the crimes of wrongthink.

Like David Harsanyi wrote in a column Tuesday, “We’re in the dawn of a high-tech, bloodless Cultural Revolution; one that relies on intimidation, public shaming, and economic ruin to dictate what words and ideas are permissible in the public square.

It’s a left-wing phenomenon that’s led to people being fired simply for making the case that #AllLivesMatter, movies like “Gone with the Wind” being labeled racist, shows like “Cops” being canceled and the whole world turning upside down.

And what have Republicans done to stop all this madness? Nothing, according to Carlson.
