House Oversight Committee ranking member Jim Jordan appeared on Fox News late Saturday to provide Americans with a summary of the barely covered but immensely heated Crossfire Hurricane hearings that had occurred in the Senate earlier in the week.

During the hearings, the Senate Judiciary Committee interviewed former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein over his involvement with Crossfire Hurricane and the Mueller investigation. And as is typical for any “deep state” operative, Rosenstein refused to fess up to anything.

During the hearings, the Senate Judiciary Committee interviewed former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein over his involvement with Crossfire Hurricane and the Mueller investigation. And as is typical for any “deep state” operative, Rosenstein refused to fess up to anything.

“When [Senate Judiciary Committee chair Lindsey] Senator Graham asked him was there anything there, he said no there wasn’t,” Jordan said on FNC’s “Justice w/ Judge Jeanine.”

“Yet you had the number two guy at the Justice Department at the time in the spring of 2017, the acting Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, name the special counsel, expand the scope of the special counsel and sign one of the FISA renewals on Carter Page. So he did all that, and yet there was nothing there.”

Rosenstein’s testimony simply didn’t add up with the facts.

To hear Rosenstein tell it, his decision to move forward at the time was rooted in him not knowing anything.

“[T]he list of what Mr. Rosenstein wasn’t told is jaw-dropping. If he testified truthfully (and he was under oath), FBI Director James Comey and later acting Director Andrew McCabe withheld from their supervisor nearly every relevant and crucial detail of the investigation,” The Wall Street Journal editorial board member Kimberley Strassel wrote after the hearings last week.

“Mr. Rosenstein didn’t know that the Hillary Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee had funded the infamous Christopher Steele dossier, which formed the bulk of the accusations against the Trump campaign. He didn’t know the FBI in late 2016 had interviewed colleagues of Mr. Steele who cast doubt on his credibility. He didn’t know Mr. Steele’s primary source had disavowed the dossier’s central elements by January 2017.”

He was allegedly the ultimate know-nothing. Either that or he was a liar.

“[Former FBI Director] Jim Comey [also] told us there was nothing there when we deposed him,” Jordan continued Saturday on FNC. “Yet they let all this happen and put our country through three years of what we lived through. That’s the frustrating part.”

It’s now known that the Russian collusion probe was a conspiracy theory and hoax, yet nobody involved in this hoax has yet to admit to anything, including Rosenstein.

As Jordan appears to believe, Rosenstein likely knew from the get-go that there was no evidence of Russian collusion, yet he signed a fraudulent FISA warrant and assigned Robert Mueller to investigate President Donald Trump. But just like every other “deep state” operative involved, he refuses to be honest.

I think Rod Rosenstein just caved to the swamp,” Jordan added. “I think he was afraid to stand up to where everyone in that town wanted to go.”

Remember, every Democrat wanted a special counsel, wanted to keep going after the president. Everyone in the media wanted to do it. And there were a bunch of Republicans who wanted to do it.

“At the time he was the acting attorney general — that’s the power of the swamp,” Jordan added. “Remember, when we deposed Jim Comey in the last Congress in the Judiciary Committee, we did his deposition.

“We asked him at the time he was fired, which was May. 9th — and remember, those days were critical, May 9th when he’s fired, May 17th when Rod Rosenstein names Bob Mueller as special counsel — we asked Comey at the time you were fired, was there anything there? His response was that at that time we didn’t know. There was no evidence, yet they continued it for two more years.”

Not until March of 2019 did the investigation finally conclude and Mueller announce to the world that there was indeed nothing there. And even that wasn’t enough to convince some loopy congressional Democrats of the truth:

But there’s more.

During the hearings last week, Rosenstein was also questioned about former FBI general counsel Jim Baker and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s claims that he’d once offered to wear a wire while speaking with the president.

“Somebody is lying. Rod Rosenstein said he didn’t talk about wearing a wire and invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office,” Jordan noted.

“But Jim Baker said Rod Rosenstein did talk about wearing a wire and invoking the 25th Amendment. Jim Baker, Andy McCabe and Rosenstein are telling different stories. Somebody is not telling the truth.”
