California looters seemed to prove that their criminal actions have nothing to do with protesting the death of George Floyd.

Looters drove home the point, literally, as they boldly took to destroying and stealing in broad daylight, even plowing through a Best Buy store in Fairfield with heavy machinery earlier this week.

As many as 20 businesses were targeted in a crime spree in the area according to the Fairfield Police Department, and in the case of the Best Buy store, the sun had not even gone down yet when a forklift was driven through the entrance of the store to cheers from waiting, would-be looters.

Nothing was stolen from the store as police arrived on the scene moments after the forklift tore away the doors and smashed through the entrance. Appliances like refrigerators had been stacked against the entrance by Best Buy staff as an added block to would-be looters, according to KCRA-TV.

Police suspected that vandals were able to secure the forklift at the Solano Town Center where construction work was being done on the mall property, KGO-TV reported.

“We were able to get a lot of license plates and log those and it’s clear to us that these were all people who came from outside of town to take advantage of Fairfield,” Lt. Jausiah Jacobsen told the news station, noting that there were no scheduled protests in the area that day over the death of Floyd, the 46-year-old who died after a Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee against his neck for several minutes during an arrest.

“These people were clearly here to cause havoc and terrorize, they were here to loot and damage. That’s what their intent was and what they were doing,” Jacobsen added.

Looters traveled around the town in packs of cars, according to police, KCRA’s Brian Hickey reported, adding that guns were stolen from a sporting goods store in another neighborhood as well as a shooting and high-speed chase involving police and suspected looters.

Elsewhere in the Democratic-run state, emboldened looters got away with goods in a CVS store in Santa Monica in broad daylight.

And others smashed the windows in a Los Angeles art gallery, making off with art pieces in the middle of the day.

As major cities across the country descended into chaos amid the escalating Floyd protests, more rioters took to higher-end businesses to loot expensive merchandise knowing, in many cases, they could get away with it.

Twitter users condemned the senseless acts for hijacking the message.
