It is apparently all in the family for the Ellisons, now that the Minnesota Attorney General’s son has publicly declared his support on social media for Antifa, the radical-left group of anarchists that are believed to be behind the nationwide anarchy in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd in police custody.

In a tweet yesterday, Jeremiah Ellison, the son of AG Keith Ellison and a member of the Minneapolis city council, wrote the following in response to President Trump’s announcement that intends to designate Antifa as a terrorist organization. The younger Ellison assigned blame for the civil unrest on “white power” terrorists.

“I hereby declare, officially, my support for ANTIFA Unless someone can prove to me ANTIFA is behind the burning of black and immigrant owned businesses in my ward, I’ll keep focusing on stopping the white power terrorist THE ARE ACTUALLY ATTACKING US!”

Jeremiah’s dad Keith, a former congressman and the vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, is or was allegedly a big fan of Antifa.

As Fox News reported, “Keith Ellison has previously signaled support for the Antifa movement, tweeting in 2018 about a book promoting it. In a post on Twitter, Ellison said that he found the book ‘Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook’ at a Minneapolis book shop and said it would ‘strike fear in the heart of @realDonaldTrump.’ The post now appears to be deleted, but social media critics have circulated a photo of Ellison holding the book in recent days.

In an MSNBC interview earlier today, Keith Ellison said outsiders responsible for the violence in Minneapolis who are operating with “military precision” need to be investigated.

He claimed no knowledge of their ideology. As far as Trump and U.S. Attorney General Barr holding Antifa responsible, Ellison claimed that “I think they are operating based on political considerations, not facts.”

In what the Star Tribune called “an unusual legal maneuver” which may be the result of pressure from community activists, Democrat Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has tapped Keith Ellison to be the lead prosecutor in the criminal case against fired Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin. Ordinarily, the Hennepin County Attorney’s office would handle the case.

Whether any of this prior Antifa backing establishes a conflict of interest in the Democrat controlled state remains to be seen, but the answer is probably self-evident.

Chauvin is facing third-degree murder and second degree manslaughter charges in the incident in which the officer allegedly pinned George Floyd to the ground with his knee on the handcuffed man’s neck. Three other officers on the scene may also face charges.

“I just want to let the public know we are pursuing justice, we are pursuing truth, we are doing it vigorously,” said Ellison upon his appointment.

In an interview on Fox News about the protests in Minneapolis and elsewhere in the state, Ellison vaguely claimed that “Some of the negative stuff has come from people in Minnesota and some of it has come from people on the outside.”

You recall that Keith Ellison managed to get elected as attorney general, the state’s chief law enforcement officer, despite a domestic assault allegation from an ex-girlfriend which he denied.

In another example of family ties, over the weekend cops arrested the daughter of far-left New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio along with about 100 other protesters for allegedly blocking traffic in lower Manhattan.
