Police officers across the nation sustained multiple attacks late Friday as unruly rioters taunted them, attacked them, stormed their precincts and burned down their cruisers.
In Houston, one crowd of rioters jumped on and vandalized a police cruiser while screaming what sounded like “f–k the pigs.”

Later that evening in Brooklyn, another crowd of rioters set an empty police van parked at Fort Green Park on fire at approximately 9:30 pm.

The police office in Brooklyn was also reportedly overrun.
“City Police Commissioner Dermot Shea called a Level 3 mobilization, and the 88th precinct in Brooklyn had been overrun. The mobilization would require all special units to respond and four cars from every command in the city to the location,” the Washington Examiner reported.
And even later that evening — more like Saturday morning, actually — “dozens” of cop cars were reportedly destroyed in Dallas.

Sadly, these riots were a nationwide phenomenon.
“Protests are raging across the country Friday night. … Anger has boiled over in major cities tonight, including Atlanta, where protesters are clashing with police, vandalizing buildings and setting police cruisers on fire. Some climbed the sign outside the CNN Center and smashed the glass at the building’s entrance,” CBS News reported.
“In Minneapolis, protesters defied a Friday night curfew. The city has been rocked by violent demonstrations in the nights following [George] Floyd’s death, with protesters on Thursday setting fire to the precinct where the former officers worked.”
As the riots have grown, so have the attacks on police officers — some of them literal attacks involving unruly rioters throwing punches at cops.
However, as the attacks have grown, so have the counter-attacks.

But for some reason, some in the public are portraying the cops who have chosen to fight back as the real threat — versus the hooligans and “thugs” who’ve chosen to initiate attacks on them (not to mention on innocent bystanders, on businesses, etc.)

It’s as if some believe it’s contingent on the police to sit by idly as mobs of young rioters destroy their own communities to “express themselves.”
In fact, The Week, a left-wing outlet, ran a story Friday in which it used a Martin Luther King Jr. quote plucked from the height of the long-gone Jim Crow Era to argue that “a riot is the language of the unheard.”
Yet just weeks earlier, The Week had mocked lockdown protesters for demonstrating peacefully for their right to work and earn a living. It’s not clear why, to this left-wing outlet, rioting is OK but protesting peacefully is not.
One of the worst attacks on America’s law enforcement officers occurred in Los Angeles, where an officer was reportedly put in a chokehold.
“A police officer was attacked, put in a chokehold and kicked in Los Angeles on Friday night as protests against the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis on Monday turned violent,” The Daily Beast reported.
“Patrol vehicles were vandalized and at least one officer was taken to a local hospital after suffering injuries during the demonstrations.”
FYI, the “protests” and “demonstrations” were in fact riots, though the media’s refusal to admit as much speaks volumes. In fairness, authorities in Los Angeles argued that the majority of people out on the streets Friday were indeed protesters.
“While the vast majority of individuals in Los Angeles have expressed those views in a peaceful manner, we have witnessed an increasing level of violence and property damage committed by a small number of detractors,” the LAPD said in a statement.
“The violence involved dangerous projectiles directed at our people as well as some property damage to businesses in the area. While isolated, if left unchallenged we face the potential of those actions expanding and hurting innocent individuals.”
That being said, there’s a difference between peaceful protests and riots like this:

If the police aren’t allowed to stop these hooligans, who is?
