On Friday, award-winning investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson sat with President Donald Trump for an interview set to air in full on Sunday.
While the interview hadn’t yet aired as of Saturday morning, Attkisson had begun releasing snippets and teasers from it, including one bombshell teaser regarding the president’s ongoing war with the so-called “deep state” of Obama-era operatives who’ve been working against him since before he’d even stepped into office.
“If it keeps going the way it’s going, I have a chance to break the deep state. It’s a vicious group of people,” the president reportedly said during the interview.
He was likely referencing the latest bombshells concerning the improper investigation into and prosecution of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
The bombshells have shown, among other things, that a slew of Obama administration officials sought in late 2016 and early 2017 to unmask Flynn’s name. One of those officials then leaked the findings to the press.
Now, while the “deep state” remark was the most explosive from the interview, it wasn’t the only notable one. Not by a long shot.
Here’s another one:
Amid a politicized battle over hydroxychloroquine, @SharylAttkisson sits down with @realDonaldTrump one-on-one, to talk about the drug after finishing his two-week course of it, the pandemic, reopening the economy, and more.

Shared to Twitter by Attkisson, the clip showed her asking the president to explain his decision to start taking the controversial coronavirus drug hydroxychloroquine.
“I believe in it enough that I took a program because I had two people in the White House that tested positive. I figured maybe it’s a good thing to take a program. We take a little bit of time, I think it was two weeks, but hydroxy has had tremendous, rave reviews,” Trump replied.
True. One Michigan Democrat, state Rep. Karen Whitsett, credited it with saving her life. However, official studies have been inconclusive, with some studies showing hydroxychloroquine provides no benefits, but others showing the exact opposite.
Here’s another clip from Attkisson’s interview:
In @SharylAttkisson‘s exclusive interview, @realDonaldTrump reacts to a new Columbia University analysis indicating that a majority of U.S. deaths caused by COVID-19 could have been prevented if social distancing and lockdowns had started earlier.

This time she asked the president to comment on a dubious new Columbia University “analysis” that claims far fewer Americans would have died had the nation’s ongoing, economically devastating and increasingly opposed lockdowns started sooner.
In response, Trump bashed Columbia.
“Columbia’s a liberal, disgraceful institution to write that because all of the people they cater to were months after me,” he said. “They said we shouldn’t close it.”
“I took tremendous heat when I banned China from coming in. … Like a level I’ve never seen anything like it, and that went on for months. They were criticizing me. Sleepy Joe Biden said I was xenophobic, meaning I don’t like certain people. And other people said as bad as that or worse. And that was in January.”
It’s true that the president’s decision to ban foreigners from traveling to the U.S. from China was lambasted by liberal Democrats. It’s also true that there were liberal Democrats who were initially flagrantly pushing back against coronavirus panic before they performed a typical 180 and became overzealous supporters of lockdown measures.
And here’s the final clip that Attkisson had shared as of Saturday:
The President (@realDonaldTrump) says he wants to see churches reopened and doesn’t want to see people arrested for congregating. “It’s a disgrace.”

“When you look at some of the things that they consider an essential service, but they don’t consider religious freedom essential service?” the president said
“Now, the ministers, the pastors, the rabbis, all religious leaders, they want to keep their people safe too. But when you see that they’re arresting people in parking lots in cars with windows closed, it’s a disgrace.”
It’s not clear if the interview was recorded before or after the president issued a statement decreeing that all churches are essential.
“At my direction, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is issuing guidance for communities of faith. … Today I’m identifying houses of worship, churches, synagogues and mosques, as essential places that provide essential services,” he said during a briefing Friday.
“Some governors have deemed liquor stores and abortion clinics as essential but have left out churches and other houses of worship. It’s not right. So, I’m correcting this injustice and calling houses of worship essential.”
Listen:
Some of the lockdown rules that have been implemented have also been extraordinarily inconsistent. This week in North Carolina, for instance, Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat, opened up restaurants but left bars closed, leaving some wondering “what’s the difference?.”
Cooper had also tried earlier in the month to keep churches closed, but that attempt was smacked down by a federal judge.
As of around 10:00 am Saturday, there were no additional early video clips from Attkisson. However, she had published a blog post in which she’d outlined some of the other topics the two had discussed:
- “Sharyl asks if someone reviews his tweets before he sends them out.”
- “Trump weighs in on the biggest strength and weakness of Joe Biden.”
- “She also asks President Trump how he can press to investigate allegation about Biden and Ukraine– without appearing to be doing the same thing Democrats did to him in 2016.”
Keep an eye out for the full interview Sunday.
