William “Roddie” Bryan — the Georgia man who filmed the tragic shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery — was charged with felony murder and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) began investigating Bryan two weeks ago, when it arrested former police officer Gregory McMichael, 64, and his son Travis McMichael, 34.
Bryan is a neighbor of the McMichaels who lives just minutes from where Arbery, 25, was fatally shot. He was listed as a witness in the initial police report, but has since been arrested.
Bryan’s lawyer, Kevin Gough, reminded reporters that it was his client’s video that led to the arrests of Gregory and Travis McMichael. Gough said Bryan is a “key witness” in the crime — not a perpetrator.
“Without Roddie Bryan, there would be no video of the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery,” Gough said. “Without that video, there would be no case. Mr. Bryan is not just a witness for the prosecution, but a key witness.”
Gough previously said: “Roddie Bryan is not now, and has never been, more than a witness to the shooting. Roddie did not participate in the horrific killing of this young man. Mr. Bryan has committed no crime, and bears no criminal responsibility in the death of Ahmaud Arbery.”
The McMichaels were charged with felony murder and aggravated assault on May 7 shortly after the chilling video that Bryan filmed of them shooting Arbery went viral.

The Ahmaud Arbery case has been rabidly covered by the media and has stoked racial tensions amid accusations that the McMichaels hunted him down because they were racist.
Arbery’s murder is now being used to promote the media narrative that racist white people are running around hunting black men.
While the media paint him as an innocent youth, Arbery has had run-ins with the law before. Arbery’s mom claims he was jogging through the Satilla Shores neighborhood on Feb. 23 when the McMichaels shot him to death because they’re racist.
In the months preceding the shooting, videos show Arbery repeatedly trespassing on a house that was under construction on Satilla Drive.
There were reportedly a number of robberies in the area around this time, which is why the McMichaels claim they were on high alert. There’s speculation that all this laid the ground for the fatal confrontation on Feb. 23.
William “Roddie” Bryan filmed the confrontation on his cellphone. The video was released in the first week of May and has ignited furious outcry.
Even if Arbery had been trespassing on the construction site, there was no justification to shoot him to death. The McMichaels will be punished once all the facts come out.
But what’s also alarming about this incident is that the media are breathlessly covering this in a way designed to stoke racial tensions because the perpetrators were white and the victim was black.
Almost every sensational news story immediately identifies the races of both the victim and the perpetrators. In reality, black men are more likely to be murdered by other black men. Similarly, white men are more likely to be murdered by other whites.
Meanwhile, the media downplay or largely ignore the countless black-on-black shooting deaths that occur every weekend in the left-wing city of Chicago (which, by the way, has strict gun-control laws).
Where is the media outrage over these tragic murders? Why do black lives only matter when whites take them?
A black marathoner in Chicago says he’s now dedicating all his runs to Ahmaud Arbery. That’s nice. Where are his dedications to the countless black men like Arbery who are shot to death every weekend by other black men in his hometown?
“I feel like my runs are now dedicated to Ahmaud Arbery," said marathoner Terrance Lyles. "Myself and other black men in my community have actually taken on the stride of becoming even more motivated to run.” https://t.co/cPUjfsjvmX

Conservative commentator Candace Owens torched the media for frantically pushing the race-baiting narrative that millions of white folks are out there hunting black men because they’re racist.
“The black community will never improve until so-called black leaders stop lying,” Owens tweeted. “In 2018, 2,925 blacks were murdered and 2,600 of their murderers were black. But the media wants us to believe we’re being lynched and hunted by white people everyday for “just jogging”.

Owens also tweeted: “Black America needs to get real and stop believing there is always a race narrative that underlines everything. Neighbors recognized him. They called the cops and then two people fatefully attempted to take the law into their own hands. That is all.”
(We had to post a screenshot of Owen’s tweet because Twitter would not let us embed it.)
Meanwhile, few mainstream media outlets identified the race of 20-year-old Jaden Hayden beating a helpless 75-year-old man in a nursing home. Predictably, there’s hardly any media outrage.
The Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saavedra, who’s Hispanic, observed: “If the races were reversed, this would be the top news story at every publication across the country.”
