‘Our data is transparent’: Florida Gov. DeSantis goes scorched earth on the media for its failed partisan narrative

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis acerbically slammed the left-wing establishment media Wednesday for the “partisan narrative” they’ve been pushing about his administration’s coronavirus response ever since the pandemic erupted months earlier.

Having been wrong in their predictions about Florida, which has fared significantly better than left-wing states like New York because of the governor’s decisive actions, the media have in recent days now taken to falsely accusing him of fudging the state’s coronavirus data.

Listen to his scathing response below (disable your adblocker if the video doesn’t appear):

Our data is available, our data is transparent. In fact, Dr. [Deborah] Birx has talked multiple times about how Florida has the best data,” he said during a briefing with the press Wednesday.

So any insinuation otherwise is just typical partisan narrative trying to be spun. And part of the reason is because you have a lot of people in your profession who waxed poetic for weeks about how Florida is going to be just like New York.”

Yet that never happened.

“‘Wait two weeks, Florida is going to be next. Just like Italy, wait two weeks.’ Well, hell, we’re eight weeks away from that, and it hasn’t happened. Not only do we have a way lower death rate … I was the number one landing spot for tens of thousands of people leaving the number one hot zone in the world coming to my state,” DeSantis continued.

“So we’ve succeeded, and I think people just don’t want to recognize it because it challenges their narrative, it challenges their assumptions. So they’ve got to try to find a bogeyman. Maybe it’s that there are black helicopters circling the Department of Health. If you believe that, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.”

He wasn’t wrong. From the get-go, the media mocked, criticized and smeared DeSantis, even as they heralded New York Gov. Chris Cuomo as the veritable Second Coming. Weeks later, it’s clear now from the data that the governor who’s been an actual champ in his handling of the coronavirus is DeSantis, not Cuomo.

But few know this because the actual truth isn’t being touted by the partisan media:

“In March 15, 2020, as the national and local media blasted DeSantis for his refusal to close beaches, Florida’s Governor was issuing an important order two months sooner than St. Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York who can do no wrong in the eyes of the media,” conservative commentator Erick Erickson noted in a column Wednesday.

“On March 15, DeSantis ordered all seniors in elder care facilities who had been hospitalized for COVID-19 to be moved to facilities other than their nursing homes. New York’s Governor was still sending infected patients to nursing homes last week.”

And arguing that he shouldn’t face any consequences for his lethal incompetence.

“The results speak for themselves,” Erickson added. “While Florida’s nursing homes have not been spared, Florida’s data shows that only 1,789 of 146,482 long term care facility residents have been infected. That is a dramatic departure from other states, particularly from New York where bodies continue to be discovered in nursing homes.”

Fact-check: TRUE.

But instead of addressing this incompetence, “journalists” from mainstream outlets like CNN have been busy doing this :

“DeSantis even, without media attention, had his team to survey Florida to find areas of high foot travel concentration and low automotive travel due to poverty, age, and other issues,” Erickson continued.

“He then set up walk-up field testing centers in those areas so residents could walk up for tests instead of relying on public transportation or other vehicles. That did not get national coverage either.”

But none of this will ever be highlighted by the media, as their so-called “journalists” have been too busy practicing garbage journalism to care.

For instance, the media’s latest newfound claims about bad data in Florida have been based on the allegations of a terminated Florida Department of Health employee who claimed she was fired for refusing to fudge the state’s numbers.

But the media’s latest garbage “source” has since been outed as a deranged woman who was fired because of insubordination and charges pertaining to cyberstalking and online sexual harassment.

“She didn’t listen to the people who were her superiors, she had many people above her in the chain of command and so said she was dismissed because of that,” DeSantis reportedly explained during Wednesday’s briefing.

“Come to find out she’s also under active criminal charges in the state of Florida. She’s being charged with cyberstalking and cyber sexual harassment.”

And so once again the media was wrong. And once again there will be no remorse, no introspection and no change. Why? For one simple reason:
