Damning FBI memo used to launch surveillance of Trump unveiled: ‘Scam based on absurd gossip’

Political watchdog Judicial Watch unveiled the damning “electronic communication” (EC) that officially launched “Crossfire Hurricane,” the counterintelligence investigation of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

That surveillance operation — and the wide-ranging cluster of crimes perpetrated by the Obama FBI and DOJ to destroy the Trump presidency — is now known as Obamagate.

The EC was obtained as a result of Judicial Watch’s FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) lawsuit against the FBI and Department of Justice.

The electronic communication was dated July 31, 2016 and was written by former FBI official Peter Strzok — a Hillary superfan who hates Trump, as he expressed in countless text messages with his former mistress, FBI attorney Lisa Page.

The redacted document appears to prove that the illegal surveillance of Trump campaign aides was started on the basis of unsubstantiated, third-hand gossip speculating that Russia might have wanted Donald Trump to win in 2016.

Strzok’s email claimed that the Russian government “had been seeking prominent members of the Donald Trump campaign in which to engage to prepare for potential post-election relations should Trump be elected U.S. President.”

Instead of entrapping a “prominent member” of the Trump campaign, the Obama FBI targeted George Papadopoulos, a low-level functionary, to use as the “hook” to illegally spy on the Trump campaign.

It is illegal for the government to spy on American citizens without substantive justification. That bar was not met in this instance.

The document that Peter Strzok wrote is riddled with ambiguous, hedging language (emphasis added):

“Mr. Papadopolous [Redacted] also SUGGESTED the Trump team had received SOME KIND OF SUGGESTION from Russia that it COULD assist this process with the anonymous release of information during the campaign that would be damaging to Mrs. Clinton (and President Obama).

IT WAS UNCLEAR whether he or the Russians were referring to material acquired publicly of through other means. IT WAS ALSO UNCLEAR how Mr. Trump’s team reacted to the offer.

We note the Trump team’s reaction could, in the end, HAVE LITTLE BEARING ON WHAT RUSSIA DECIDES TO DO, with or without Mr. Trump’s cooperation.”

Strzok’s email concludes by saying that based on the flimsy information he received, “this investigation is being opened to determine whether individual(s) associated with the Trump campaign are witting of and/or coordinating activities with the Government of Russia.”

Tom Fitton, the president of Judicial Watch, blasted the Obama FBI for using unsubstantiated gossip as a pretext to illegally spy on Trump campaign aides.

“No wonder the DOJ and FBI resisted the public release of this infamous ‘electronic communication’ that ‘opened’ Crossfire Hurricane — it shows there was no serious basis for the Obama administration to launch an unprecedented spy operation on the Trump campaign,” Fitton said.

Fitton added: “We now have more proof that Crossfire Hurricane was a scam, based on absurd gossip and innuendo. This document is Exhibit A to Obamagate, the worst corruption scandal in American history.”

As BizPac Review reported, new intel uncovered by acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell shows that former Obama CIA director John Brennan knew that the Russia-collusion hoax was a scam from the start and a part of a coordinated campaign to destroy the Trump presidency.

Among the intel that Grenell is declassifying is the chilling revelation that Brennan-suppressed intelligence shows Russia actually wanted Hillary Clinton — more than Donald Trump — to win the 2016 election.

Not only did John Brennan suppress that information, but he and his cabal intentionally promoted the false narrative that Vladimir Putin favored Trump. In fact, sources say this intelligence was more serious and credible than the intel suggesting that Putin wanted Trump to be president.
