Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden torched President Trump for taking hydroxychloroquine to prevent getting the coronavirus, saying the move is akin to injecting “Clorox into your blood.”

Biden — who is not a physician or a scientist (or otherwise employed, for that matter) — made the remarks from his basement hideout during a Yahoo town hall.
“It’s like saying maybe if you inject Clorox into your blood, it may cure you,” Biden said. “C’mon, man! What is he doing? What in God’s name is he doing?!”
The 77-year-old career politician added: “The words of a president matter. You heard Vice President [Mike Pence] today or yesterday say, ‘I’m not using it.’ Look, this is absolutely irresponsible! There’s no serious medical person out there saying to use that drug. It’s counterproductive. It’s not going to help. But the president, he decided that’s an answer.”
Biden then lied by saying: “Look at the studies that have been done. It does much more harm than good. This is totally irresponsible.”
As BizPac Review reported, hydroxychloroquine was approved by the FDA in 1955 to treat malaria. That’s 65 years ago. It is also widely used to treat the auto-immune diseases lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
The FDA has not yet approved hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19, but many physicians are successfully treating coronavirus patients with the drug.
Moreover, many nurses and doctors on the front lines take hydroxychloroquine as a preventative measure so they don’t get infected while treating coronavirus patients.
Actor Dean Cain — a graduate of Princeton University — slammed the media for trying to paint hydroxychloroquine as a deadly drug simply because President Trump touted it.
Cain tweeted: “I took Hydroxychloroquine for several weeks when I visited Kenya in 2007. (Anti-malaria). It’s on the WHO list of essential medicines…What is Joe Biden saying?”

For years, the World Health Organization has included hydroxychloroquine on its List of Essential Medicines. If it were so dangerous and unproven, why would the WHO list it as an “essential medicine?”
While hydroxychloroquine still needs to be studied for its usefulness against COVID-19, what’s alarming is that Democrats and their media lapdogs only oppose the drug because Trump touted it. If he opposed it, it’s likely leftists would support hydroxychloroquine.
President Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Conley, released a statement saying the move to prescribe hydroxychloroquine was a joint doctor-patient decision made after discussing the drug’s pros and cons.
“After numerous discussions he and I had regarding the evidence for and against hydroxychloroquine, we concluded the potential benefit from treatment outweighed the relative risks,” Dr. Conley said.
Last month, Michigan State Representative Karen Whitsett credited hydroxychloroquine for saving her life. Whitsett, who is immuno-compromised because she has Lyme disease, says she was near death while infected with the coronavirus.
Whitsett’s physician, Dr. Mohammed Arsiwala, prescribed hydroxychloroquine, and it made her better. Dr. Arsiwala also gives it to his other coronavirus patients — with successful outcomes.
“Since I’ve treated Karen, I have also treated a few other patients [with hydroxychloroquine],” Arsiwala said. “As I said before, there is cardiac toxicity associated with that, but right now, the scientists behind this medicine –as long as we can monitor the heart — are using it in an inpatient setting.”
He added: “Even the FDA has recommended you can use it based on physician/patient interaction. I have used it on 16 other patients and it has worked. Right now, there is a huge study going on in Michigan on healthy individuals. They are trying to do a study to see if hydroxychloroquine can prevent this disease.”

Dr. Arsiwala then echoed the sentiments of Dr. Marc Siegel of NYU Langone Hospital (whose 96-year-old father was cured with hydroxychloroquine) when he urged Democrats to put aside bitter partisanship and come together as Americans to defeat this plague.
“Let’s not fight, [put] politics aside,” Dr. Arsiwala said. “This virus is new. It’s taking lives. It has devastated our economy. We have to come together.”
