An irate Costco customer recorded an encounter with a stickler manager as he was booted from the store for not wearing a mask.
It’s not clear where the store is located, but the manager is wearing a clip-on badge that identified him as Tison.
The video picks up with the customer telling Tison he’s recording their exchange for his “3,000 follower Instagram feed, mostly locals.”

Not deterred, the manager speaks to the camera, “Hi everyone. I work for Costco and I’m asking this member to put on a mask because that is our company policy.”
“So either wear the mask…”
“And I’m not doing it,” the customer interrupts. “Because I woke up in a free country.”
Tison tells the man to have a great day, as he takes command of the man’s shopping cart full of supplies.
“So you’re going to take this cart from me, full of stuff…” the customer says.
“Sir, have a great day,” the manager replied. “You are no longer welcome here in our warehouse. You need to leave. Thank you very much.”
Overcome with anger, the man responds with profanity.
“He’s going to take the card away because he’s a p*ssy little b*tch,” he said. “There he is walking away with all my stuff. There he goes. Cuz I’m not a f*cking sheep.”
While there may be a lot of debate over just how free a country the man woke up to that day, private businesses are free to set their own policies for customers, providing there’s no violation of discrimination laws in the policies.
Costco states on its website: “To protect our members and employees, effective May 4, all Costco members and guests must wear a face covering that covers their mouth and nose at all times while at Costco. This requirement does not apply to children under the age of 2 or to individuals who are unable to wear a face covering due to a medical condition.”
Costco CEO Craig Jelinek also addressed the issue.
“We know some members may find this inconvenient or objectionable, but under the circumstances we believe the added safety is worth any inconvenience,” Jelinek said in a statement. “This is not simply a matter of personal choice; a face covering protects not just the wearer, but others too.”
While there have been calls to boycott the company, most members seem to be willing to comply.
Adios #Costco! Won’t be renewing my membership!
I REFUSE to mask up for the low IQ mob that’s falling for the propaganda, not to mention the health risks by restricting oxygen! 🙅🏻♀️ 😷

#Costco is going to start looking like this if they don't stop trying to tell people what they can do. If I refuse to put a mask on and I refuse to leave, what happens then? I say we all #boycottcostco pic.twitter.com/bFCGFO9poC

As for the man in the video, there were far more who cheered on the manager than those who stood with him. In fact, he didn’t fare well at all.
Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
Not all hero’s wear capes. Great job Tison! #costco https://t.co/daYDqU6kfD

I agree. It is their right. Just like most stores post.
No shirt
No shoes
No serviceNow I’m not on all this covid nonsense. But going to a place with clearly stated rules. You break. You’re out. 🤷

Buddy is cool wearing sunglasses to protect himself from UV light inside Costco but refuses to wear a mask to stop the pandemic.
