Fox News host Steve Hilton slammed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and called for the firing of its director for mishandling the coronavirus pandemic.
Hilton blasted “the tyranny of the technocrats” during a segment on “The Next Revolution” Sunday, criticizing ongoing shutdowns in the wake of the pandemic and targeting former President Barack Obama and others he called out as the “ruling elite who think they are smarter and better than you but they’re not.”

“Their ideology — globalism, open borders, endless war — it failed. That’s why people voted for Trump in 2016. Ever since, the technocrats have been plotting to get their power back. First with Russia, then with Mueller, after that impeachment. Now they’re using this corona crisis to grab power,” Hilton said, adding that they have been trying to blame Trump for the global pandemic.
“The reason we have a pandemic in the first place is because the outbreak was covered up by the authoritarian dictatorship in China. Who spent the last 50 years sucking up to them?” Hilton asked.
“Not Trump but the technocrats. The reason we couldn’t contain the outbreak and how to shut down our economy is because we didn’t have tests that worked right from the start,” he continued. “Who screwed that up? No, not the evil Trump, but the saintly, public sector CDC, the technocrats. Again, has there ever been a more catastrophic case of technocrat bungling?”
The president fired back at his predecessor as “grossly incompetent” on Sunday after the Democrat attacked him in a pre-recorded commencement speech to 2020 graduates.
“Doing what feels good, what’s convenient, what’s easy — that’s how little kids think. Unfortunately, a lot of so-called grown-ups, including some with fancy titles and important jobs, still think that way — which is why things are so screwed up,” Obama said, adding that many of those “in charge” actually “aren’t even pretending to be in charge.”

“Look, he was an incompetent president,” Trump said when asked about the remarks. “That’s all I can say. Grossly incompetent.”
Hilton went on in his show to unload on Redfield in his commentary, calling him “Doctor Death and Destruction” and ask why he was still on the job.
“Now we do have testing because Trump got rid of regulation so the private sector could do it. Why were we running around desperately trying to get ventilators and PPE [personal protective equipment] and whatever because the technocrat geniuses shipped manufacturing overseas and let other countries control the supply,” Hilton said.
“It was Trump and Jared Kushner and his team who turned that around in record time so now we’re shipping ventilators to other countries,” he added, referring to the president’s son-in-law.
“Trump was right about the shutdown,” Hilton said, blasting the moving goal posts and reasons that the country remains in a state of shutdown.
“They told us to flatten the curve and we did. They told us to slow the spread and we did. So why are we still shut down?” he demanded.
“Here is the toll. No, it’s not a choice between life and livelihood, between health and the economy,” Hilton said, adding, “even if you ignore the economic catastrophe, the health cost of the shutdown is reason enough to end it.”
