James Woods gets Trump’s direct attention with ‘more than any president in my lifetime’ tweet

Actor James Woods got the direct attention of President Donald Trump after staunchly defending him on social media as someone who “loves America more than any president in my lifetime.”

The conservative actor praised the president on Sunday after a weekend of calling out Democrats on Twitter, and slamming former President Obama who took cheap shots at the Trump administration’s coronavirus response.

“Let’s face it. Donald Trump is a rough individual,” Woods tweeted to his 2.73 million followers on Sunday afternoon.

“He is vain, insensitive and raw. But he loves America more than any President in my lifetime,” he added. “He is the last firewall between us and this cesspool called Washington. I’ll take him any day over any of these bums.”

A few hours later, Trump gratefully responded to the tweet.

“I think that is a great compliment. Thank you James!” the president wrote.

Woods fired several tweets at the president’s critics over the weekend, frequently using the #ObamaGate hashtag, one that Trump has also tweeted in recent days to expose how his administration had been targeted by his predecessor.

Trump slammed Obama as “grossly incompetent” on Sunday after the Democrat attacked him in a pre-recorded commencement speech to 2020 graduates.

“Doing what feels good, what’s convenient, what’s easy — that’s how little kids think. Unfortunately, a lot of so-called grown-ups, including some with fancy titles and important jobs, still think that way — which is why things are so screwed up,” Obama said, adding that many of those “in charge” actually “aren’t even pretending to be in charge.”

Asked about Obama’s insult on Sunday as he returned from Camp David, Trump minced no words in his terse response.

“Look, he was an incompetent president,” he said. That’s all I can say. Grossly incompetent.”

Woods, who is also brutally direct in his criticism of the former president and the corruption in his administration, peppered his Twitter feed with fact-bombs over the weekend, unloading on the now-exposed efforts to set up former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

He also confronted media talking heads for pushing the left’s agenda in attacks on the president, including a tweet blasting CNN’s Jake Tapper.

He called out Democrats on one particular tweet, writing that after “three years of witch hunts it turns out the only actual intervention in our democracy was the cancer that was the Obama White House. #ObamaGate.”

Woods even fired a shot at failed 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

The actor reiterated his support of Trump as well in a retweet of a post from 2018, saying: “As true today as the day I wrote it.”

Following the thanks from the president, Woods doubled down and relayed that he certainly intended his words as a compliment.

“And indeed it was intended as such Mr. President. Rough men stay the course,” Woods tweeted. “Treachery, however, is the most dangerous enemy a leader can face. Even Caesar succumbed to it. Be wary. Stay strong. God bless.”
