Besides being loud and rebellious like Jim Acosta, CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins is, it would appear, a hypocrite — one who was caught on camera removing her coronavirus mask moments after the conclusion of Friday’s White House briefing.
This of course raises the question of why she even had a mask on in the first place considering that removing a mask while still in the presence of numerous other people completely defeats the purpose.
Watch the relevant video footage below, and keep an eye out on the woman in the front row wearing a pink blazer (disable your adblocker if the video doesn’t appear):
The footage of Collins removing her mask while still among other people seems peculiar in light of the fact that her reporting these past two or so months has often focused on calling out those White House officials who’ve chosen not to don masks.
Case in point:
Asked why he’s not wearing a face mask, Dr. Fauci says he was tested yesterday for coronavirus and it was negative.

After he was criticized for not wearing a mask at the Mayo Clinic earlier this week, Vice President Pence is now wearing a mask as he tours a General Motors facility today. pic.twitter.com/qtAPZcILAO

Asked if our story about a valet testing positive will have any effect on what’s going on inside the West Wing, like staff wearing masks, Kellyanne Conway says in part, “I think if anybody should start wearing masks and showing more respect, it should be the media.”

At vaccine event in the Rose Garden, POTUS is joined by several officials on stage. Some, like Dr. Birx and Dr. Fauci are in masks. Others, like Defense Secretary Esper and HHS Secretary Azar, aren’t.

Meanwhile, some of her equally hypocritical colleagues at CNN have gone so far as to try and outright shame Trump administration officials for not wearing a mask.

But as noted earlier, wearing a mask is utterly pointless unless it’s kept on the whole time and not just worn while, say, on live national television.
And in Collins’ case, this isn’t even the first example of her purposefully wearing a mask while on camera but then sliding it off when she thinks she’s clear.
Another can be seen near the end of the video tweet below:

Naturally, the latest footage from Friday’s briefing has provoked some backlash, with a large number of social media users excoriating Collins for her apparent hypocrisy.

Fake news faking mask

Apparently reporters are immune from covid 19 when the cameras stop. Why did princess take a chance with the safety of the whole world by ripping off her mask. Idiots believe what they’re told but ignore what they see.

@kaitlancollins funny how you keep shaming the president for not wearing a mask meanwhile when you think the cameras stop rolling you take your mask off immediately! Just another example of FAKE NEWS!! You are such a FAKE!! Thank you @PressSec for a great job pic.twitter.com/UvJFopigmp

I used to trust your reporting- now that I have seen you do something that you criticize (mask and social distancing) so frequently I have very little faith in you.
— Sean Boskin (@BoskinSean) May 17, 2020
The latter tweet was particularly stinging because it emanated from someone who, for whatever reason, used to “trust” her reporting.
It’s not clear why seemingly left-wing reporters like Collins don’t understand how a mask is supposed to work. The same applies to left-wing politicians like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who earned Instagram praise last week from failed 2016 Democrat presidential Hillary Clinton for her so-called “mask-to-pantsuit color coordination.”

Sure, the color coordination is excellent, but again, what’s the point? Whenever Pelosi puts on a mask, she invariably pulls it off at least once while still around other people.
The examples are numerous:
