After ex-CIA chief Brennan sought to ‘unmask’ Flynn he wails releasing names is ‘abominable abuse of authority’

Former CIA Director John Brennan, one of dozens of Obama administration officials who requested the “unmasking” of incoming National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, has called the recent release of those names an “abominable abuse of authority.”

In an interview with his benefactor, MSNBC, Brennan also blasted the Justice Department for dropping its case against Flynn, despite evidence that the FBI, then under Director James Comey, set up a perjury trap for the retired three-star Army general.

Brennan seemed to be channeling the administration he worked for when he characterized the decision as “blatant political corruption at the highest levels of U.S. government.”

“I just think what [acting Director of National Intelligence Richard] Grenell and others are doing now raises some serious questions about the ongoing capabilities, focus of the intelligence and law enforcement community,” Brennan continued in ripping the decision to declassify and release intelligence documents showing that he, among many others, had requested that Flynn be unmasked.

“If they are being manipulated at the very top for political purposes, who knows what is happening as far as our defenses against these determined efforts on the part of our enemies,” Brennan said, incredibly.

“As we have talked about the upcoming November election, how the Russians and others are going to seek to try to once again interfere and influence the outcome, I just am very concerned that some of those at the very top are not going to fulfill the duties that are entrusted to them by the American people,” he continued.

“I’m just hoping that individuals like Chris Wray who is a remarkable public servant, will continue to stay strong in the face of this type of abominable abuse of authority,” the politicized former CIA chief stammered nervously.

Needless to say, Brennan wasn’t asked by host Brian Williams, who has his own history of dishonesty, and Nicolle Wallace why his name appeared on the unmasking list or why he requested it.

In fact, according to former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell, Flynn’s attorney, it is Brennan who was acting in a political — and allegedly illegal — manner.

Earlier this week, before Grenell released the names of Brennan and others who requested the Flynn unmasking — to include Joe Biden and then-White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough — Powell implored him to do so, stating that exposing her client constituted a felony.

“I think it’s very important to go ahead and release that information because that will lead us closer to finding the person that actually leaked the information about the Kislyak call,” Powell told Fox Business Network’s Lou Dobbs.

She was referencing a December 2016 phone call Flynn had with then-Russian ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak — a call that was legal and appropriate, given Flynn’s incoming role as national security adviser to President Trump.

“That leak was the felony that started the entire scenario against Gen. Flynn. And so far, we know that Comey and his FBI … were part of the unmasking, from Comey’s testimony that was just produced to us.

“[Comey] immediately briefed DNI [James] Clapper on it,” Powell continued. “Clapper asked for copies, plural, of the transcripts of that phone call and got them. And then Clapper immediately briefed President Obama, who then told [then-Deputy Attorney General] Sally Yates about it in the Oval Office meeting on the fifth.”

She’s referencing a Jan. 5 meeting in the Oval Office chaired by Obama in which the attendees discussed the strategy to ensnare Flynn, allegedly. Also in attendance were then-National Security Advisor Susan Rice, who’s suspected of being the one who authorized Flynn’s unmasking, and then-Vice President Joe Biden.

“That’s the same meeting from which they then dispatched Mr. Comey to New York to brief President Trump only on the salacious aspects of the Steele Dossier because they wanted to give a news hook to CNN and BuzzFeed to run with the whole thing,” Powell continued.

“The mere fact that the president and the president-elect had been briefed on it was enough for them to run with the whole thing, which Clapper had probably already leaked to them. So it’s all tied up together,” she said. “A lot of information went down at that Jan. 5th meeting with Biden and Obama, Yates, Clapper, Brennan, Comey. The whole cabal was right there.”
