U.S. Rep Doug Collins thinks its “about time” that Obama administration officials behind the “unmasking” of Michael Flynn were exposed.

The Georgia Republican told Fox News it’s “time people start being held accountable” as he discussed the declassifying of names involved in the case against the former national security adviser, and slammed the “roving band of deputized street thugs” who wanted to remove President Donald Trump from office.

“I’m glad to see this is coming out,” Collins told Fox News anchor Sandra Smith on Wednesday, reacting to news that acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell was declassifying a list of Obama-era intelligence officials who were involved in “unmasking” Trump campaign associates like Flynn.

The move by Grenell comes days after newly released documents revealed that the FBI had essentially set a perjury trap for Flynn who was accused of lying to agents in a January 2017 interview about his conversations with the Russian ambassador. The Department of Justice announced it was dropping the case after the revelations but Washington, D.C. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan is refusing to dismiss the case.

Former Deputy National Security Adviser K.T. McFarland told Fox News on Wednesday that she believes she and Flynn were framed.

“[Flynn] was treated the same way I was treated, which is [being] ambushed by the FBI, try to trick us into committing crimes we had no intentions of committing, trying to charge us with perjury crimes and, in Flynn’s case, they tried to use his son as blackmail against him to plead guilty for a crime he didn’t commit,” McFarland told “America’s Newsroom.”

“They set Flynn up, they set me up, they set other people up, but the real goal for them was to go after President Trump. We were collateral damage. They didn’t care about whose lives they ruined. They wanted to go after President Trump,” she said.

“They wanted to bring the Trump administration to its knees before it even got started,” she said. “They wanted to protect whatever lies it now turns out they were saying…and they didn’t want to have the new administration see what they had done during the previous administration.”

Collins agreed, noting “that’s exactly what we’ve been saying,” calling out the liberal media that has been “propping up the Obama legacy for years and then trying to discredit any of us who actually attacked the sham impeachment, who attacked the Mueller investigation, who attacked the Clinton email investigation.”

“We were always made to feel like we were the ones on the outside just yelling that nothing was happening,” the Senate Judiciary Committee member told Smith on Wednesday.

“And the truth of the matter is now that now everybody has to acknowledge that this was something that was actually legitimately going on,” he continued. “When you have, from the highest level of intelligence, from the White House and DOJ, actively contemplating destroying a candidate and the destroying the early parts of  an administration – that should worry everybody.”

“These same folks with a badge have the same power to do it to you and do it to me,” Collins added.

He noted that Grenell’s latest move will probably be followed with more hearings in Congress as efforts are made to get to the bottom of the “political hit job” against Trump during “the calamity at the end of the Obama administration.”
