Politico co-founder won’t pretend he cares about misconduct: ‘I want a coronation of Joe Biden’

While some on the left want to at least feign a sense of propriety in light of the Tara Reade sexual assault allegation leveled against Joe Biden, Politico co-founder Martin Tolchin is doing away with any such pretense, calling for a “coronation” of the 2020 presumptive Democratic nominee.

Tolchin, an admitted Marxist, according to Media Research Center, has no interest in any investigations of the corroborated accusation, even if it’s conducted by a kangaroo court.

In a New York Times letter to the editor, Tolchin was clear that his only interest is to defeat President Donald Trump in November — justice be damned.

The letter was in response to a Times editorial last week calling for the Democratic National Committee to “swiftly” investigate the claim, with the full cooperation of the Biden campaign.

For the record, hard-left ideologue Tom Perez heads up the DNC. But even with his heavy thumb on Biden’s side of the scale, Tolchin wants no part of it — sadder than his disregard for justice may be the fact he sees Biden as “our best chance” to beat Trump.

“I totally disagree with this editorial,” Tolchin wrote. “I don’t want an investigation. I want a coronation of Joe Biden. Would he make a great president? Unlikely. Would he make a good president? Good enough. Would he make a better president than the present occupant? Absolutely. I don’t want justice, whatever that may be. I want a win, the removal of Donald Trump from office, and Mr. Biden is our best chance.”

What’s his biggest fear? It seems Tolchin is worried a probe may very well turn up “damaging information.” A concern that makes one wonder if Tolchin has peaked into Biden’s closet a time or two and found an occasional skeleton.

He added: “Suppose an investigation reveals damaging information concerning his relationship with Tara Reade or something else, and Mr. Biden loses the nomination to Senator Bernie Sanders or someone else with a minimal chance of defeating Mr. Trump. Should we really risk the possibility?”

So there you have it, a man who could serve as the poster child for Trump Derangement Syndrome says to hell with justice in the face of a woman claiming she was violated by a prominent senator at the time. After all, Democrats have an election to win.

MRC’s Curtis Houck summed up Tolchin’s letter to the editor best.

“In other words, Tolchin was employing logic one would find with the likes of grifting organizations like The Bulwark, Lincoln Project, and news outlets like CNN,” he said. “Spend the last five years insisting that the right has abandoned decency and morals and then throw them out the window because hatred of Trump was more important.”

But the consequences are worse than that.

“If this was what a classic D.C. elite journalist was willing to publicly opine about Biden and Reade, imagine what his former colleagues still in the news business think,” Houck added. “If it’s anything close to the hardened, willful corruption, then perhaps our media are irreparably broken.”
