Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez has apparently refused to go along with the idea of setting up an independent panel to assess the sexual assault allegation lodged against presumptive 2020 presidential nominee Joe Biden by ex-U.S. Senate staffer Tara Reade.
Biden represented Delaware in the U.S. Senate from 1973 to 2009, before he served as Barack Obama’s vice president for eight years.
Perez appeared on ABC’s political show This Week broadcast this morning and claimed that Joe Biden has been “very clear” that Reade’s allegation circa 1993 is unfounded, adding that any woman who comes forward with such a complaint nonetheless must be taken seriously.
Parenthetically, when politicians use the word “clear,” it usually implies just the opposite.
When anchor Martha Raddatz asked the chairman about a New York Times proposal for the DNC to launch an unbiased political panel to review Biden’s papers in connection with the Tara Reade matter, Perez claimed that Biden is an open book:
“There have been so many investigations of the vice president. The most comprehensive investigation of the vice president was when he was vetted by Barack Obama in 2008. I’m very familiar with the vice presidential vetting process. They look at everything about you. They looked at the entire history of Joe Biden, his entire career. And I’ll tell you, if Barack Obama had any indication there was an issue, Barack Obama would not have had him as his vice president. Barack Obama trusted Joe Biden. I trust Joe Biden, and those investigations have been done.
Perez also backed Biden’s unwillingness to release his records currently housed at the University of Delaware.
He argued that the Delaware compilation contains only public materials rather than personnel files.
When Raddatz asked why not just do a name search there for Tara Reade, Perez responded that this was just “like Hillary emails…there was nothing there…when you ask the University of Delaware to take a look at something, you’re asking them to look for something that doesn’t exist.”
“They looked at the entire history of Joe Biden … Barack Obama trusted Joe Biden, I trust Joe Biden,” DNC Chairman Tom Perez tells @marthaRaddatz when asked why the DNC won’t convene an independent panel.

Tom Perez is probably lucky he still has a job after Iowa Caucus vote-counting debacle.
Joe Biden went on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Friday to deny the allegation and he dismissed granting access to the University of Delaware records.
Social media users are well aware that Biden has been caught on video being very friendly with young females.
In a New York Times article about the Biden allegation which amounted to a whitewash, the news outlet stealth-edited out a line in the original version of the story that referenced Biden’s “hugs, kisses and touching that women previously said made them uncomfortable.”
The Times has admitted that the Biden campaign requested the change.

Formerly stand-bears of the #MeToo and #BelieveAllWomen movement, virtually the entire Democrat establishment, including potential VP pick Gretchen Whitmer, the Michigan governor, have discounted Tara Reade’s accusation about Biden. The U.S. Senate will presumably release Reade’s original written complaint soon.
