Former Deputy National Security Adviser K.T. McFarland exposed the corrupt FBI’s investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn as really an attempt to take out President Donald Trump.
McFarland slammed fired FBI Director James Comey and the agency’s efforts to set up Flynn as revealed in newly released notes that show how he was ambushed in an interview in January of 2017. Comey “thought he was going to get away with” the blatant perjury trap set for the former Trump adviser, McFarland told Fox News host Martha MacCallum.

“That’s the great tragedy in all this,” McFarland said on “The Story” Thursday.
“Enough people at the senior levels of the Obama administration were spying on the national security adviser. They were setting him up for a fall, they were setting him up to blackmail him, they were setting him up to bankrupt him, they were setting him up really to turn on President Trump,” she said.
“When Flynn didn’t do it, when I didn’t do it, they said [to] Flynn, ‘Well, we are going to go after your son,’ ” McFarland continued, saying Flynn “sacrificed” himself by pleading guilty “to a crime he didn’t commit to save his son.”
She argued that “they were desperate to stop Flynn” because the retired general “had a plan to reorganize the intelligence community…reform it, streamline it, reduce it.”
“They had to take a preemptive strike against Flynn before he could go and start carving up their old, their fiefdoms,” she added.
“Flynn and I were collateral damage,” McFarland said. “We didn’t matter. The goal was to get Trump and stop his administration dead in its tracks.”
McFarland was also questioned by the FBI at the time and reassured, like Flynn, that a lawyer was not needed because agents were simply on a “fact-finding mission.”
“This is what the FBI said to me when they interviewed and really interrogated me,” she said. “First of all, their implications: ‘You don’t really need a lawyer … we’re just on a fact-finding mission … you’re not the general target.’ That’s exactly what they said to Flynn.”
“They seized everybody’s files… and then they take the files, like they did with General Flynn in the White House interview when the FBI agents went. They had the transcript sitting in front of them and then they quiz him on it,” McFarland told MacCallum. “And if he gets something wrong, a-ha! He’s obviously lying. It’s not just that he makes a mistake in memory … It’s obviously a lie, it’s perjury and we’re going to charge him for perjury.”
Asked about whether Trump should issue a full pardon for Flynn in the wake of the new revelations from the released documents, even as Flynn’s attorney Sidney Powell indicated there is more to come, McFarland noted it “doesn’t have to go that far.”
“I think the judge should throw this thing out, but not just exonerate Flynn — this is just the symptom of it — go after the people who thought that they were better than the voters of the United States of America and get those people who decided they were going to undo an election result that they didn’t like by going after a president and hold them accountable,” she said.
“And by the way, make them pay for their own legal expenses,” she added.
“It’s cost General Flynn millions of dollars to defend himself. None of that’s reimbursed. It’s cost me hundreds of thousands of dollars and a lot of other people that kind of money,” she explained.
“Maybe the people who abuse power in the first place should not only have to be held responsible for it but should have to pay for their own defense,” she suggested. “I think it would be just deserts.”
