Former President Barack Obama has apparently concluded that playing golf is an essential activity during the coronavirus pandemic that has most the country quarantined.
Last Saturday, according to Politico, he was spotted on the links at the Robert Trent Jones Country Club in Virginia, which is located approximately 40 minutes from his residence in an upscale Washington, D.C., neighborhood.
This outing occurred despite the fact that both D.C. and Virginia are under a strict lockdown and have been for about a month.
Tucker Carlson the host of Tucker Carlson Tonight on the Fox News Channel, pointed out the hypocrisy of the situation, especially given that government officials have shut down recreational activities all over the country and otherwise forced ordinary citizens into house arrest.
“For [Obama], golfing at his country club was an essential activity.”
Given his apparent special access, Obama was, however, observing social distancing on the seemingly empty golf course, however.
Carlson added that just a few days later, Michelle Obama recorded a public service announcement on behalf of the D.C. government urging D.C. residents to stay home.
In her message automatically sent to everyone’s phone, Mrs. Obama implored residents to shelter in place unless they need “essential healthcare, essential food or supplies, or to go to your essential job.”
Said Carlson, “It didn’t seem to occur to her that those standards might also apply to her family, and that’s why she didn’t mention essential trips to your country club.”

As originally chronicled during his presidency, Barack Obama loves to golf, as does President Trump. The incumbent president, however, has been stuck in the White House for almost the entire duration of the emergency to date.
Obama even grabbed his clubs and reportedly headed to the course on the same day his administration declared the H1NI swine flu epidemic a public health emergency in 2009.
This pronouncement came four months after the World Health Organization (which Japan’s deputy prime minister earlier this month called the China Health Organization) determined it was a global pandemic.
Barack Obama is hardly the only politician engaging in do as I say, but not as I do, during the COVID-19 outbreak.
For example, bystanders filmed far-left New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and his wife violating the city’s stay-at-home order.

And Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot got a haircut in defiance of her state’s stay-at-home order. She justified her excursion by essentially claiming that she needs to look good on TV.

Virginia is shut down until the middle of June. We can’t even enter a park for fresh air. Governor Facepaint shut everything down while he takes private flights to vacation in North Carolina. Amazing how none of our “leaders” seem personally worried about this raging pandemic.
