Ivanka Trump rebuked former Vice President Joe Biden for seeming to disrespect a female member of President Trump’s coronavirus task force.

The president’s eldest daughter called out the presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee on Twitter, citing an interview in which he contended that Dr. Anthony Fauci should be “only person” to address the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Dr. Birx is an Army Colonel and a subject matter expert who has dedicated her life to fighting infectious diseases,” Trump tweeted Tuesday.

“Why shouldn’t she also be able to speak?” she asked.

The president’s daughter was reacting to an interview Biden had with WTMJ’s Charles Benson in which he discussed the virus impact on the state of Wisconsin as well as on African-Americans, and the re-opening of the state’s economy.

The 77-year-old Democrat also talked about the Trump administration’s handling of the pandemic, taking another opportunity to criticize the president.

“It’s all about him. This has nothing to do with him,” Biden said, referring to President Trump as “slow-go president” while calling out the responses to battling the pandemic across the nation as “taking too much time.”

“It has to do with the American people and us being able to lead, lead, lead,” he said, criticizing Trump for doing long press conferences daily.

Asked about the possibility of a virtual Democratic National Convention, which was set to be held in Milwaukee and has been delayed until August, Biden said it was “hard to tell.”

“We’ve got to follow the science,” he replied, adding that he would prefer a live event that people could attend but it will “require the president to take action now to do the things that need to be done.”

But Biden reiterated that holding an event like the DNC Convention attended by thousands of people will depend on the science.

“We’d all be better off if the only person we heard from the White House was Dr. Fauci,” Biden said. “I’m serious. To the scientists, that’s where we have to go.”

Ivanka Trump’s tweet calling out the Democrat for dismissing Dr. Deborah Birx was echoed by Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.

“Where is all the mainstream media analysis about how Biden’s comment is sexist?” she tweeted. “Imagine if a Republican said the same thing.”

Birx, the White House coronavirus task force coordinator, was the U.S. global AIDS coordinator appointed by former President Obama in 2014 in the State Department job which oversaw efforts by the U.S. government to combat the spread of HIV globally.

The 64-year-old physician who was a member of the U.S. Army, also worked at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in the 1980’s and at the National Institutes of Health

Biden’s ignoring of Birx in touting Fauci’s expertise was slammed on social media following the tweets from McDaniel and Trump.
