While the coronavirus pandemic has spelled disaster for American business owners and employees, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been lounging at home in California, refusing to go forward with more funding relief for small business.
During Friday’s Coronavirus Task Force briefing, President Trump blasted Pelosi for her heartlessness. He was asked about the Thursday depletion of the Small Business Administration’s available funds for emergency loans to small businesses and he laid the blame squarely at the feet of Pelosi.
The CARES Act allotted $349 billion in loan money for small business owners and the Paycheck Protection Program, as it is called, and has proven to be a big help for those struggling as a result of the economic shutdown. However, as of Thursday, the program is on pause until additional funds are approved by Congress.
“It’s been a tremendous success. It’s been executed flawlessly,” Trump said of the program. “I mean with few exceptions it’s really been good. And I think the Democrats are going to do it. Look, Nancy Pelosi, she’s away on vacation or something and she should come back. She should come back and get this done. I don’t know why she’s not coming back. The fact is she’s not doing her job. And there’s nothing unusual about that for her.”

Earlier in the week, Pelosi was arrogantly and cluelessly praising Senate Democrats for stonewalling an additional $250 billion in relief for a segment of the economy that amounts to 50% of the country’s business enterprise, according to Trump.

Democrats are holding the bill to add more funds to the program hostage until some of their pointless politically based provisions were added, and to make matters worse, many of them have departed Washington on a break scheduled to last until early May.
The Paycheck Protection Program has run dry, but Democrats refuse to approve new funds until they get money for unrelated liberal agenda items.

Republicans tried to pass more money for Americans’ paychecks last week. Democrats blocked it. Speaker Pelosi said she saw “no data as to why we need it.” She said “we have time to negotiate.”

I spent 40 years building a small business on Main Street, and it’s sad that Senate Democrats blocked additional aid for small businesses. More family businesses will close their doors every day we don’t put these political squabbles aside.https://t.co/8JHld38xw1

As if to punctuate her disdain for the millions of Americans at risk of losing everything, the ice-cream ice queen who holds the key to unlocking the replenishment of loan money has escaped the Beltway and is hunkered down in her California mansion, showing off her emergency stockpile of designer chocolates and huge stores of $13 a pint ice cream in remotely-conducted talk-show interviews.
On Friday, President Trump tweeted his frustration on behalf of those families out there who are dangling by a thread, when he wrote: “Today people started losing their jobs because of Crazy Nancy Pelosi, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, and the Radical Left, Do Nothing Democrats, who should immediately come back to Washington and approve legislation to help families in America. End your ENDLESS VACATION!”
