Florida inmate released from jail amid coronavirus fears allegedly murders someone the next day

A Florida inmate who was released from jail in a bid to slow the spread of the coronavirus behind bars was arrested again after allegedly committing second-degree murder the day after he got out of prison.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office released a statement confirming that Joseph Edwards Williams, 26, was arrested on Monday night in connection to a March 20 shooting that left a man dead.

Williams was one of 100 inmates who had been released from jail the previous evening under an administrative order aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19 in county prisons.

In a statement, Sheriff Chad Chronister said Williams exploited the coronavirus crisis to commit more crimes.

“There is no question Joseph Williams took advantage of this health emergency to commit crimes while he was out of jail,” Sheriff Chronister said.

Predictably, there has been a massive spike in crime after numerous left-wing cities like New York, Cleveland, and Philadelphia released thousands of inmates from jail, citing the need to stem the spread of the coronavirus behind bars.

Let this sink in: Leftists are releasing criminals from jail so they won’t contract the coronavirus in prison. But it’s perfectly okay for inmates to spread the coronavirus to law-abiding Americans outside jail? Where’s the logic in this argument?

Last month, Fox News host Tucker Carlson joined a growing chorus of Americans who are concerned that releasing inmates from jail would cause a surge in crimes. They were right.

“Americans are living in a less secure world, they’re feeling economically vulnerable,” Carlson said on March 18. “They’re uncertain of what’s going to happen in the very near future in any crisis like this. It’s important that leaders help the public feel safe, secure and confident…But in some parts of the country, the authorities are doing just the opposite.”

Tucker continued: “In Los Angeles, Cleveland and other cities, officials have begun releasing prisoners early. They wanted to do that anyway, but now they can claim that it’s to contain the coronavirus. It is a recipe for chaos. And people can feel it.”

Carlson pointed out: “In many cities, police have been ordered to stop protecting the public, to stop doing their jobs. A person could break into your home in Philadelphia and not be arrested.”

That’s why gun sales across the United States have rocketed.

“It’s rational,” Tucker said. “If the police are not going to protect you and not do their jobs because the politicians controlling them won’t allow them, and are releasing criminals back into your neighborhood, what does that mean? It means it falls on you to protect yourself and your family.”

Leftist politicians responded to this spike in gun sales by pushing for more “gun control” for law-abiding Americans.

“If the government fails to protect you, and it’s making your life more dangerous, and then it tries to prevent you from protecting yourself, what is that?” Carlson asked. “It is really ominous.”
