Trump takes down combative CBS reporter: ‘You’re so disgraceful! You know you’re a fake’

President Donald Trump lambasted CBS “reporter” Paula Reid at the White House coronavirus briefing, calling her a “fake news” pimp who’s a “disgrace” to journalism.

Trump made the remarks in response to Reid’s angry accusations that he didn’t respond quickly enough to the coronavirus outbreak in the United States.

Keep in mind that when the President imposed a travel ban on China back in January, left-wing media hyenas like Reid smeared him as a racist.

At the time, no American had died from COVID-19. In fact, the first U.S. death didn’t occur until Feb. 29. So ordering a travel ban in January was ahead of the curve.

Reid screeched: “The argument is that you bought yourself some time [with the travel ban]. You didn’t use it to prepare hospitals! You didn’t use it to ramp up testing.”

Reid’s job as a White House correspondent is to ask questions at the briefings — not to make accusations or push her personal narratives.

President Trump responded by pointing out that on Jan. 17 (when the media was still obsessing over the failed impeachment), no Americans had died from COVID-19. So was Trump supposed to shut down the entire country when there were no American deaths at that time?

“You’re so disgraceful! You know you’re a fake,” Trump said. “Your whole network, the way you cover [news] is fake. That’s why you have a lower approval rating than you’ve ever had.”

Reid replied: “How is this rant supposed to make people feel confident during an unprecedented crisis? What did your administration do in February with the time that your travel ban bought?”

President Trump fired back: “A lot! We’ll give you a list.”

Earth to Paula Reid: What did Trump do in February? He was running the country, which at the time had the hottest economy in history.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is an Obama holdover who’s a member of the White House coronavirus task force. He refuted the media’s accusations that President Trump did not react quickly enough.

Dr. Fauci said when he and Deborah Birx (another Obama holdover) first raised concerns to Trump, he acted on their advice without delay.

“The President listened to the recommendation and went to the mitigation,” Fauci said.

Paula Reid also got a smackdown from Dr. Fauci, who got visibly angry when she suggested that he was being forced to defend President Trump.

“Are you doing this voluntarily or did the President make you do this?” Reid screeched.

An annoyed Fauci retorted: “Everything I do is voluntarily. Please! Don’t even imply that.”

“The Five” host Jesse Watters torched the media’s Monday-morning quarterbacking, saying they nitpick because they’re leftist shills trying to undermine Trump. Watters said:

“The media are comparing Donald Trump to Perfection. Look at what the media’s Perfect Scenario would have been: That Donald Trump — in the middle of a Senate impeachment trial — should have sent the senators home to their districts to shelter in place.

That Donald Trump would have told all the voters of the country, ‘Don’t go to the polls on Super Tuesday. Stay home and shelter in place!’ He would have said that in February before one person died. He would’ve said: ‘Don’t go to Easter church services. You will not be allowed to go.’

Could you give imagine the reaction if Donald Trump had done that in February? You can see the headline from the New York Times right now: ‘American despotism!’  And Donald Trump would have tweeted ‘fake news’ and we all would have had a big laugh.

The travel ban came at the end of January, and the full economic shutdown came in mid-March. That was six weeks. Six weeks went by like that. It was pretty fast.”

Watters said the media’s lame attacks are especially hypocritical given their own initial reports downplaying the coronavirus and their race-baiting criticisms of Trump’s travel bans on China and Europe.

Watters recalled: “It’s not like the whole time during those six weeks that Joe Biden, the New York Times, and every scientist in the country was screaming at Trump, ‘Shut the economy down, man! Shut it down!’ No! They weren’t saying anything!”

Jesse Watters continued: “The whole month of February they were talking about mini-Mike Bloomberg and whether he needed a platform to stand on at a debate. So to go back and say, ‘Coulda, woulda, shoulda — these are all Johnny-come-latelys.”
