House Speaker Nancy Pelosi slammed the “stunt” by Senate Republicans in trying to pass a request for $250 billion to help small businesses impacted by the coronavirus crisis.
The California lawmaker excused the move by Senate Democrats to block the small business funding which Majority Leader Mitch McConnell tried to pass with unanimous consent.
According to @SpeakerPelosi, requesting more money for additional aid to Small Businesses is a “stunt”.
Small Business Owners will remember this.

Speaking to reporters on a conference call Thursday, Pelosi claimed McConnell “dishonored” the needs and that there was “no data as to why we need it.”
The measure would have changed the funding for the “paycheck protection” program from $350 billion to $600 billion. But Democrats objected as they wanted to add hundreds of billions in additional funding, including funds for hospitals, state and local governments, and other priorities.

“We need more funding and we need it fast,” McConnell told the small number of lawmakers present in the Senate Thursday ahead of the vote. “To my Democratic colleagues, please do not block emergency aid you do not even oppose just because you want something more.”
“I’m afraid that this unanimous consent is basically a political stunt because it will not address the immediate need of small businesses in the legislation that we have passed,” Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin, who voted against the bill, said.
The liberal media was quick to cover for Pelosi and the Democrats, while over at MSNBC they claimed the House Speaker had “leverage” over McConnell, presumably referring to the emergency aid to American workers.

CNN had a temporary moment of clarity and published a headline that read, “Democrats Block GOP-Led Funding Boost For Small Business Aid Program.”
But it was short-lived as the network quickly changed it to read, “Senate at Stalemate Over More COVID-19 Aid After Republicans And Democrats Block Competing Proposals.”
This is CNN.

Pelosi’s dismissal of the financial needs of Americans prompted angry reactions from many on social media.

Schumer & Pelosi had no near term proposal to get money for anyone UNTIL a request was made for more funds for #smallbusiness
Then it turned into “we have to get something out of it”#PPP is lending $3 billion per hour,so when it runs out & stops, remember what happened today

.@SpeakerPelosi, for once in your pathetic career of fleecing the American people could you please put politics aside and actually help people who are struggling?
Small businesses are shutting down & 16 million people filed for unemployment. Cut it out or resign!

Speaker Pelosi is a disgrace, more money for small businesses is a “stunt”, but vote by mail is saving our democracy.
This should be a @GOP ad playing in every home!
