Kathy Griffin rips Trump from hospital bed claiming unbearable symptoms of COVID-19

Kathy Griffin accused President Trump of lying and slammed his coronavirus task force from a hospital isolation ward.

The 59-year-old comedian claimed she was showing “unbearably painful” symptoms of COVID-19 before landing in the hospital where she tweeted a photo of herself lying in a hospital bed wearing a mask.

Griffin was responding to a tweet by the president about testing being done for the coronavirus, claiming he was not telling the truth.

“Just reported that the United States has done far more ‘testing’ than any other nation, by far!” Trump tweeted. “In fact, over an eight day span, the United States now does more testing than what South Korea (which has been a very successful tester) does over an eight week span. Great job!”

Griffin, whose 99-year-old mother died last week, posted one photo of herself with a mask on and one of her hospital room, though it was not clear where or when the photos were taken. She wrote that she had been sent to a “COVID-19 isolation ward in a major hospital ER” from an urgent care facility she had visited.

“The hospital couldn’t test me for #coronavirus because of CDC (Pence task force) restrictions,” she added, citing Vice President Mike Pence who leads the administration’s coronavirus response team.

Griffin, an outspoken Trump critic, claimed last year that she was “unemployable” after she infamously came under heavy fire in 2017 for posting a photo of herself holding a fake severed head of the president. Her latest jab at the Trump administration centered around the availability of testing in the U.S. amid the global pandemic.

According to the COVID Tracking Project website, nearly half a million Americans have been tested for the virus as of this writing, and the Trump administration is continuing to expand testing across the nation.

Celebrities including Tom Hanks, his wife Rita Wilson, Idris Elba, Debi Mazar, Daniel Dae Kim, Andy Cohen, and Nyle DiMarco have all tested positive for the coronavirus over the last days and 59-year-old Top Chef Masters star Floyd Cardoz died Wednesday from the illness.

The U.S. passed the 1,000 mark of deaths caused by the global pandemic as the nation reported over 69,000 confirmed cases across all 50 states. Trump dismissed the idea of having the entire population of a state tested right now and has pressed for the nation to soon get back to business to avoid a collapse.

“We don’t have to test the entire state in the Middle West or wherever they may be. We don’t have to test the entire state,” the president said during a news conference Wednesday.  “I think it’s ridiculous. A lot of those states could go back [to work] right now, and they probably will.”

Meanwhile, Griffin’s tweet claiming the hospital was restricted in testing her prompted mix reactions on Twitter as some wished her a speedy recovery and others questioned her claims.
