Joe Biden’s disastrous shadow coronavirus briefing: ‘When teleprompter stops working he’s a train wreck’

Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden was mocked after suffering a major brain freeze when his teleprompter malfunctioned during a shadow coronavirus briefing.

Biden stammered and lost his train of thought during the short, rehearsed statements. Biden livestreamed the prepared remarks from his home.

During the briefing, Biden touched his face despite repeated warnings from health officials not to do so. At one point, the teleprompter stopped working, causing Joe to lose track of what he was saying.

Biden was then seen frantically signaling with his right hand to an aide off-camera, urging them to fix the teleprompter malfunction.

“Joe Biden when the teleprompter stops working is a train wreck,” social media strategist Caleb Hull observed.

Biden’s brief, rehearsed stage theater is a stark contrast to the two-hour daily press briefings President Trump gives, where he answers countless questions from a hostile media trying to trip him up.

GOP spokesperson Elizabeth Harrington tweeted: “What a disaster! Biden had plenty of time to think about this, and he can’t even figure out what to say without help from a teleprompter.”

Eric Trump expressed his disgust at Biden’s latest pathetic attempt to showboat. Unfortunately, all it did was underscore how unprepared Joe is to lead the nation through a crisis.

Fox Business host Charles Payne tweeted: “This is tough to watch…I realize Biden needs to grab some attention, but shadow press conferences to cast blame and suggest he would be perfect lurches toward embarrassment.”

Ed Rollins, the former senior adviser to President Ronald Reagan, remarked: “How can Biden be president if he can’t even give a speech without a teleprompter?”

“President Donald Trump has unleashed an unprecedented response to combat the coronavirus. Meanwhile, Joe Biden had a major brain freeze while speaking about the pandemic.”

Joe Biden released the video shortly after the Twitter hashtag “Where’s Joe?” went viral.

The 77-year-old career politician has been curiously absent amid the coronavirus pandemic. That’s not surprising, given his disastrous past handling of virus outbreaks.

In 2009, when Biden was vice president, the Obama administration waited for six months after the swine flu had killed more than 1,000 people in the United States and infected millions of Americans before declaring it a public health emergency.

As it is, the best thing that Biden, 77, can do right now is to stay home, since he is at high risk to get the coronavirus.

Joe has a compromised immune system because he has an irregular heartbeat, a history of aneurysms, and is at risk for getting deadly strokes. That’s the assessment of Dr. David Scheiner, the former longtime physician to Barack Obama.

“He’s not a healthy guy,” Dr. Scheiner said. “Could I guarantee he won’t have issues for the next four years? [No.] He has a lot of issues that are just sort of sitting there.”

Biden’s own supporters admit that they’re worried about his deteriorating mental fitness but still support him because they have no other choice in the Democrat Party.

One woman said: “It’s very concerning. When he is getting softballs thrown at him and he can’t answer the question [it’s scary].”
