President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus crisis has been the latest target for his persistent critics, but it seems there are some cracks appearing in the liberal wall.

Positive and non-partisan praise of the president’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic came from unlikely sources Tuesday as both CNN’s Dana Bash and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo commended his actions.

“Look, this is just coming back to where this conversation started after the press conference,” Bash said to the CNN panel Tuesday on “CNN Right Now” as they discussed the president’s latest press conference about the global virus outbreak.

Bash found Trump’s tone and handling at the moment simply “remarkable.”

“This is a non-partisan, this is an important thing to note and to applaud from an American standpoint, from a human standpoint,” she added. “He is being the kind of leader that people need, at least in tone, today and yesterday. In tone that people need and want and yearn for in times of crisis and uncertainty.”

She went on to applaud what she saw as a pivot from the president as he has been “convinced to be different.”

“It is so important to hear him strike that tone of calm, and of understanding of how incredibly dire this is,” she said, claiming that the president was previously downplaying the seriousness of the outbreak “in order to keep the economy going.”

Viewers were understandably shocked to hear ringing praises of the president coming from CNN and expressed their surprise on Twitter.

Not everyone was happy about the moment of sanity on CNN and let Bash have it.

CNN’s Dana Bash is talking about how Trump is becoming the leader Americans lead because he isn’t completely denying the existence of a pandemic, because he has “a tone of calm, and understand how dire this is.” Dana Bash is evidently insane. The lowest possible bar.

Bash responded to her critics, asserting that “this is a moment to be non-partisan, American and human.”

In addition to the surprising shift from a CNN anchor, Trump finally earned some words of praise from New York’s governor who had, just a day before, been trading barbs over the coronavirus response.

“I’ve been talking to President Trump, we are working in partnership and he has activated the federal government,” Cuomo told MSNBC Tuesday.

The Democrat told host Rachel Maddow that his relationship with Trump “went beyond mere state and federal institutional frictions.”

“We’ve had significant differences, no doubt about it,” Cuomo said, referring to past wrangling between the two and just this week as the governor called for Trump to step up and nationalize the response to the pandemic.

Trump admonished the New York Democrat to “keep politics out of it” in a tweet criticizing his call to equally treat all the states in the country in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and Cuomo later even thanked Trump and his administration for “doing everything that they can do.”

The governor told Maddow Tuesday that in his most recent conversation with the president, he expressed that, politics aside, “we are going to have a tragedy” in New York if people couldn’t access the medical help they need.

“I put out my hand in partnership,” he said. “And the president said yes. I believe he’s sincere.”

“I believe he’s doing what he has to do and I respect him for it,” Cuomo added.

Twitter users were impressed with Cuomo’s remarks and many were happy to see the president get the thanks he deserves.
