Florida Governor Ron DeSantis urged the Trump White House to consider restricting domestic travel within the United States to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

DeSantis made the plea shortly after President Trump expanded his European travel ban to include the United Kingdom and Ireland.

At his Saturday press conference, Trump told reporters that he was also considering imposing restrictions on domestic travel.

Hours afterward, Florida Governor DeSantis said he’s worried that visitors from other states that are coronavirus hot spots could spread the illness to Floridians.

“We’re seeing cases where people clearly contracted it somewhere else and brought it here,” DeSantis said at a press briefing on Saturday.

So far, 70 Florida residents have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Six of them were passengers on the quarantined Grand Princess cruise ship. The six Floridians infected from the cruise ship have been moved to a quarantine site in Georgia.

In a bid to curb the further spread of the coronavirus in Florida, DeSantis banned all visitors at nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other group homes where the elderly live.

“The message for folks who are elderly, who are frail or have a significant medical condition — just avoid crowds,” DeSantis said.

President Trump has not yet imposed restrictions on domestic travel, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it happens soon.

The Left and their media minions slammed Trump as a racist for instituting a travel ban on Europe and for imposing a travel ban on China back in January.

However, the President was proven right this week, after the World Health Organization declared Europe the “epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Thanks to Europe’s self-destructive open-borders policies, the continent now has “more reported cases and deaths” from the coronavirus than the rest of the world combined outside of China.

Even ISIS warned its terrorists to avoid Europe amid fears of the coronavirus. So again: President Trump was right.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is the infectious-disease expert who’s overseeing the U.S. efforts to combat the coronavirus.  Fauci has been the director of the NIAID (National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases) since 1984 and served under former presidents Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2, and Obama.

Dr. Fauci said thanks to President Trump’s early travel ban on China and on Europe, the United States is “ahead of the curve” on preventing a massive outbreak of coronavirus.

At Friday’s press conference, Dr. Fauci praised President Trump for his “proactive, leaning-forward, aggressive” approach to combating the coronavirus.

Dr. Fauci said:  “There will be many more cases, but we’ll take care of that. And ultimately, this will end. But what’s going on here today is going to help it to end sooner than it would have.”

President Trump’s decisive actions even won praise from his longtime political enemy Andrew Cuomo, the Democrat governor of New York State. Meanwhile, Andrew’s younger brother, Chris “Fredo” Cuomo has been bashing Trump nonstop on CNN.
