Bloomberg throws his money where Dems are most afraid

The good indication of how much of an inroad President Donald Trump has made in securing black voters may be that billionaire Michael Bloomberg finds it necessary to spend millions to register new African-American voters.

The former — see failed — 2020 Democratic contender gave $2 million to Collective Future, a nonprofit working to registering black voters ahead of November’s general election, The Washington Post reported.

In a statement that regurgitated Democratic talking points about voter suppression, Bloomberg said he is looking to make it easier for people to vote.

“Voter suppression efforts across the country have been a barely disguised effort to keep Black Americans and other Democratic-leaning voters from the polls,” he said. “I’ve always believed we need to make it easier for all citizens to register and vote, not harder.”

The goal is to register 500,000 black voters before the November election.

Collective President Quentin James told the Washington Post the $2 million will be spent to hire field organizers and others in eight states, including the swing states of Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina. The other states are Texas, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama.

“Some people may still have issues around his record as mayor or whatever the issue is, but for us this is bigger than some of the personal opinions,” James said, speaking of Bloomberg.  “This is about power in our community. And unfortunately we have been stripped of that.”

In other words, a billionaire’s money is good as long as it’s being given to the right people on the left.

“There is a critical need for Black voter engagement across the country in the 2020 election and beyond,” James added. “And we are deeply grateful to Mike Bloomberg for his partnership and dedication to this critical cause. His significant financial contribution will propel our work to historic levels and we are hopeful that this game-changing investment will be supported and replicated by those who embrace the need to advance the black community.”

Given that former Vice President Joe Biden has a noted advantage over Sen. Bbernie Sanders when it comes to black voters, the contribution could be seen as beneficial to Biden.

As for the possibility that these new voters could vote for Donald Trump, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes has already ruled out that possibility.

Hayes declared that black voters can only be Democrats because of “structural white supremacy.”

In a discussion about black voters supporting Biden or Sanders, Hayes insisted there was a “generational division,” noting that while he lost big to Biden in South Carolina, Sanders won black voters under 30 in the state.

“And the second thing is that white people in America have two parties to choose from,” Hayes said. “And between those two parties, they sort in all kinds of ways. People who are college, post-graduate atheists in metro areas, those are Democrats. People that are rural and go to church every week, and were high school graduates, most likely Republican.

“For black voters in those two categories, they’re both going to be in the Democratic Party,” he continued. “Because there’s only one party they can be a part of because of the nature of structural white supremacy in American political coalitions.”

This ideological drivel passing for intelligent thought with intolerant liberal zealots.
