Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, says she’s comfortable with having socialist Senator Bernie Sanders at the top of the Democratic Party’s presidential ticket.
Pelosi also dismissed speculation that she’s terrified of Democrats losing control of the House of Representatives if Bernie became her party’s nominee.
Congresswoman Pelosi made the remarks Wednesday in response to questions from reporters.
NBC News’ Geoff Bennett tweeted: “Pelosi tells reporters that she is comfortable with Bernie Sanders as a potential nominee and doesn’t think he would jeopardize the House majority.”
Pelosi said: “I think whoever our nominee is, we will enthusiastically embrace. And we will win the White House, the Senate and the House.”

Pelosi reiterated her position when NBC News producer Alex Moe asked: “Will you be OK if Bernie Sanders is the nominee?” Pelosi said: “Yes.”
When asked: “Do you have any concerns that you could lose the majority?” Pelosi replied: “No.”

This morning, Congressman James Clyburn (the House Majority Whip) endorsed Joe Biden — three days ahead of South Carolina’s Feb. 29 Democratic primary.
“I want the public to know that I’m voting for Joe Biden,” Clyburn said at a press conference in Charleston. “South Carolina should be voting for Joe Biden.”
In an emotional endorsement speech, Congressman Clyburn said he has been friends with Biden for decades.
“I know Joe. We know Joe,” a tearful Clyburn said. “But most importantly, Joe knows us.”
Congressman Clyburn then resorted to the left-wing tactic of predicting doom-and-gloom under a second Trump term.
“As I stand before you today, I am fearful for the future of this country,” Clyburn said. “We don’t need to make this country great again. This country is great. That’s not what our challenge is. Our challenge is making the greatness of this country accessible and affordable for all.”
For the record, President Trump’s 2020 campaign slogan is “KEEP America Great.” His 2016 slogan was “Make America Great Again.”
Last weekend, Congressman Clyburn warned Democrats that Bernie’s love of socialism will be a “burden for us.”
“I believe [the ‘socialist’ label] will be an extra burden for us to have to carry,” Clyburn said. “That would be a real burden for us in these states or congressional districts that we need to do well in.”
Clyburn added that having a socialist at the top of the Democratic ticket could have a disastrous effect on down-ballot races.
Meanwhile, Republican candidate DeAnna Lorraine is running against Pelosi for her Congressional seat.
Lorraine tweeted: “I will replace her soulless leadership with love, laws, and fierce patriotism. Tick-tock Old Nan, your day of reckoning is coming for your crimes against Americans. ⏰?
Bernie Sanders — a millionaire who owns three homes — claims he’s “not a capitalist.”
In other words, Bernie wants “socialism for thee — but not for me.”
