Actress, Bernie supporter’s slap at Pelosi ends in hilarious ‘Susan Sarandon got me fired’ thread

Susan Sarandon really stirred things up over the weekend when she responded to a tweet from Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Ind., ripping Sen. Bernie Sanders for not supporting candidates who will help keep the speaker’s gavel in the hands of Rep. Nancy Pelosi.

Comrade Sarandon, a fierce supporter of the socialist senator from Vermont, opted to inform the openly gay candidate that there is a “progressive” candidate challenging the speaker and that progressives have no desire “to keep Pelosi.”

“We’re not looking to keep Pelosi because there’s a progressive running against her who supports Medicare for All and the Green New Deal among other things,” tweeted the actress.

The tweet prompted a rash of responses, as the left engaged in eating itself, with one such example seen here:

And while it’s rather enjoyable to watch the Democratic Party implode right before your eyes over the possibility of “Crazy Bernie” being the party’s 2020 nominee, one exchange in particular stood out.

Tony Posnanski, a prolific tweeter, expressed his dissatisfaction with Sarandon by telling the actress to “f*ck herself all the way back to Bull Durham when you were relevant.”

He clearly hit a nerve, as Sarandon responded with several screenshots, to include the offending tweet and previous tweets mentioning Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.

It would appear Sleuth Sarandon deduced that Posnanski was linked to Warren’s campaign because she included a screenshot of the senator saying that candidates are responsible for their supporters.

On a side note, Sarandon’s response denotes the underlying tension between Sanders supporters and Warren supporters.

Her tweet prompted Posnanski to sarcastically claim that he was fired by the Warren campaign because the actress drew attention to his tweet.

Heavy on snark, he took full advantage of the opportunity, playing the moment for all it was worth. Posnanski did explain to one social media user that he is “not a Warren supporter. I said she did extremely well in the debates.”

Far too many people took him seriously, but his tweets did prompt a bevy of “Susan Sarandon got me fired” responses. The only real certainty in all of this is that people have far too much free time on their hands.
