After taking another shellacking at the hands of Bernie Sanders, this time in Saturday’s Nevada caucuses, the early front-runner for the Democrats’ 2020 presidential nomination, Joe Biden, claimed he was going to stage a comeback. Just as he was doing so, MSNBC’s live coverage of his speech delivered an epic, timely, and unintentional counter to his claim that has to be seen to be appreciated.

Biden has endured fourth- and fifth-place finishes in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary before coming in second place in Nevada, albeit a very distant second. The latest NBC caucus results in Nevada have Sanders with 46.6% and Biden with 19.2%.

“You all did it for me now, now we go to South Carolina and I’m going to take this back!” Biden told a gathering of his supporters in North Las Vegas.

The Cameras Don’t Lie

In that wound-licking speech, Biden was trying to rally the faithful. “You know the press is ready to declare people dead quickly. But we’re alive and we’re coming back and we’re gonna win,” he declared.

But with a sense of epic irony, almost as if scripted, MSNBC at that point cut away from the Biden concession to interrupt with “breaking news.”

“We have been listening to vice president Joe Biden speaking in Nevada. We are projecting that Bernie Sanders — NBC News projects Bernie Sanders the winner in Nevada. Brand new, breaking news numbers coming right out of Nevada,” the announcer said as the camera coverage switched from the Biden stage to a graphic and photo of Sanders indicating the socialist was the projected winner.

Classic! Sometimes even the leftist media connects with a solid blow, though one would have to wager it was unintentional.

Unaware of the MSNBC diss, Biden went on to extend a promise of future glory to his very patient supporters. “I think we’re in a position now to move on in a way that we haven’t been until this moment. We’re going to win in South Carolina and then Super Tuesday.”

Even legendary actor Rob Schneider (who has a history of on-point political takes) took a dig at Biden:

Biden also got in an apparent dig at a couple of rivals when he said, “I’m a Democrat and I’m proud of it.”

Sanders is a longtime independent who calls himself a Democratic Socialist. Mike Bloomberg is a one-time Republican who became an independent before recently turning Democrat.

Biden’s reason for optimism, as told to reporters, was that he’d beat Sanders by just moving on from Nevada.

Presidential Congrats to “Crazy Bernie”

Meanwhile, President Trump seemed anxious to get on with what may be a destined head-to-head match-up against Sanders in November, which by most accounts would result in a landslide victory for Trump. He tweeted out congratulations to “Crazy Bernie” and hammered the rest of the “weak” field of Democrat contenders.
