Russian pranksters posing as Greta Thunberg punked Bernie Sanders, audio released

Another day, another fooled Democrat …

Infamous Russian pranksters Vladimir Kuznetsov (Vovan) and Alexey Stolyarov (Lexus) released audio footage this week of a prank call they made in December to Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders.

During the call, an unnamed female pretended to be teen climate change activist Greta Thunberg, while Stolyarov pretended to be her father.

It was the exact same setup the pranksters used when they prank-called Sen. Maxine Waters. And just like with that prank, this one was 100 percent successful.

Listen:

The call above begins after the pranksters have already convinced Sanders’ office that Thunberg wants to speak to him.

“Hi. This is Sen. Bernie Sanders calling for Greta,” Sanders says as the prank begins.

This opening appears to mark a change in strategy for Kuznetsov and Stolyarov. In their previous pranks, including their prank-call to current House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff, the calls seemed to begin with them dialing the “victim,” not the other way around.

After the pseudo-Thunberg and her father introduce themselves in the clip above, Sanders then proceeds to lavish the teen activist with praise.

“Well, listen, thanks for the opportunity to chat,” he says. “And I just wanted to congratulate you on the extraordinary role you’re playing in rallying young people and people throughout the world on this terrible, terrible crisis of climate change.”

The call then continues with Thunberg and her father expressing their desire to assist the senator in his presidential campaign and revealing that they’ll be in the United States come February.

Sanders replies by first stating that he’d love their help come February but then suggesting in a disturbingly exploitative way that, in the meantime, Thunberg could release an endorsement statement.

The fake Thunberg responds by praising Sanders for his longtime left-wing activism, which began as early as 1968.

“Let us continue to talk, and when you come to the United States I will bring some people together and we can do some interesting things,” the senator replies before once again reiterating his seemingly exploitative request.

“And if you wanted to make a statement in support of my candidacy and the program we have outlined for climate change, I would be very very appreciative.”

It’s around this point in the interview when things start to get wild, as the fake Thunberg claims that her friends, singer Billie Eilish and rapper Kanye West (who’s an avid Trump supporter, FYI), also support his candidacy and would like to produce a rap video for his campaign.

“They would be willing to do something on the Internet on that?” Sanders asks in what sounds like confusion.

You can tell that it’s around this time that the senator becomes suspicious, because after Thunberg replies by saying “yes,” Sanders immediately tries to cut the conversation to a close.

“Well, you keep up the great work that you are doing, and I’ll look forward to seeing you very soon and staying in contact with you,” he suddenly says out of nowhere.

But the tactic doesn’t work.

“Yes, yes, and if we want to make the video successful, we need to put a lot of expensive cars and girls and I think you need to wear gold jewelry and chains. It’ll be nice,” the fake Thunberg quickly cuts in.

“Alright. Well, thank you so much, and keep up the wonderful work,” Sanders promptly replies, trying once again to cut the call short.

And again the strategy fails, as the fake Thunberg and her father quickly rush to retake control of the conversation again.

“We want to take your advice,” the pseudo father said. “Recently we were invited to Russia next year, but we’re afraid of it. So we know that you had some problems with them, and we’re afraid, so we just don’t know what to do.”

This apparently triggers something in Sanders, because suddenly he switches from trying to close out the call to lecturing the two about Russia.

“Russia has been — and Putin — has been very bad, as far as I know, on climate change,” he says. “They have a lot of oil. Oil is important for their economy. They make a lot of money on oil. And Putin has been, to the best of my knowledge, very bad on climate change. I think what you don’t want to do is simply walk in there and get used. But I think, before you go there, you can do the research.”

What’s hilarious is how the call concludes shortly thereafter with the fake Thunberg accusing Sanders of being a Russian agent — which is similar to the phony accusations Democrats have made about President Donald Trump for years now.

“You were programmed to work for Russia and your memory was erased so the CIA wouldn’t track you down,” she says.

“Is this what you believe?” the senator replies in shock.

“Yes, you become a sleeper agent of the KGB,” she responds. “Now it’s time to wake up and fulfill your mission, become president of the United States, build communism in the United States and work for Russia. I’ll tell you the code phrase and you will remember.”

The senator hangs up soon afterward.

In a statement to the Associated Press, the prankster duo reportedly revealed that they waited until just now to release the audio footage because of Sanders’ impressive performance in Iowa and New Hampshire.
