Pelosi demands social media platforms remove brutal Trump-shared meme of her SOTU tantrum

A slew of Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have begun demanding that Facebook and Twitter censor a meme video that they find offensive.

Reportedly produced by Turning Point USA and later tweeted by the president himself, the meme juxtaposes the infamous clip of the House speaker ripping up President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address with clips of the president paying tribute to several extraordinary Americans, including one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen.

Watch:

After the president posted the meme early Thursday evening, Democrats began shrieking that it’s “misleading” and must be removed from social media.

Pelosi’s office has asked both Twitter and Facebook to take down the video,” The Hill reported after receiving confirmation from the speaker’s deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill.

He and other notable Democrats also expressed their complaints on Twitter:

But there appears to be a grave problem with the Democrats’ arguments …

While it’s true Pelosi ripped up her copy of the president’s SOTU address after he concluded speaking — and not, in fact, as he was paying tribute to people such as 100-year-old Tuskegee Airman Charles McGee — the fact remains that the speaker and her colleagues have repeatedly dismissed the president’s entire address as a “pack of lies.”

“I’m a speed reader, so … I went like this through the speech. So I knew that it was a pack of lies. I knew it was a pack of lies, but I thought, ‘Well, let’s see how it goes,'” she said during her grievance-filled weekly press conference Thursday.

“About a quarter through it I thought, ‘You know — he’s selling a bill of goods like a snake oil salesman. We cannot let this stand.’ So, somewhere along the way realizing what was coming, I started to stack my papers in a way that were tear-able.”

Not once during her partly incoherent rant did she specify what she meant by “lies.” If anything, she and other Democrats have made it sound as if the entire address was fraudulent from beginning to end, never mind the contradicting facts.

When the president pointed out that this administration has overseen “the lowest levels” of unemployment, he was being accurate. He was also being accurate when he observed that health insurance premiums have become “up to 60 percent less expensive” under his policies.

Likewise, when the president extolled the accomplishments of men like McGee, not a single lie or misstatement escaped his mouth.

Yet Pelosi ripped up the entire address and then proceeded to accuse it of being a “pack of lies.” Moreover, a number of Democrats either walked out of the SOTU address or sat silently refusing to applaud as the president paid tribute to certain Americans.

When you take into account these facts, the president’s meme does seem to provide, at the very least, an accurate albeit metaphorical account of the Democrats’ attitude toward the moments that Trump paid tribute to men like people such as the child seen below:

Similarly, the Democrats’ desire to censor the president’s meme does seem to speak to their growing authoritarian tendencies. From preventing writers in California from working as freelancers to dictating what companies in New York may sell, Democrats across the country have gradually been strengthening their tight grip on the American people’s necks in ways that have been utterly disastrous.

And now, upset over an arguably accurate though metaphorical meme, they’re seeking to do the same on social media, where their power continues to wane as more Americans tune out their lies and instead flock to more reliable sources.
