Ted Cruz schools Cuomo: CNN supposed to want to discover the truth, not help Dems cover it up

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has been consistent throughout the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, wanting to shine a light on the nefarious actions of former Vice President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, in regard to Ukraine.

To that end, Cruz slammed CNN for trying to cover up the younger Biden’s role — the liberal media has been unified in saying there has been “no evidence” of wrongdoing.

Cruz was open to calling new witnesses, so long as that would mean Hunter Biden would be among them, and told reporters earlier this week that if Democrats manage to get enough votes — they didn’t — Republicans will ensure both sides will be able to call witnesses.

“If we call John Bolton, I promise you we’re calling Hunter Biden too,” Cruz said.

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo responded to a clip of the senator’s remarks, coming to the defense of the Democratic vice president’s son by labeling any curiosity into Hunter’s actions as “nonsense.”

“Because hunter biden has relevant information about whether trump abused his power or blocked congress? Cruz is lauded for being a great thinker – so he must get the nonsense of this…is this proof that he thinks he is talking to people who are dumb enough to buy this?” Cuomo tweeted.

Cuomo’s tweet prompted a stinging rebuke from the Republican lawmaker.

“There was a time when CNN journalists were supposed to want to discover the truth, not help Dems cover it up,” Cruz tweeted. “The Dem arg that Hunter Biden isn’t “relevant” (which Cuomo dutifully repeats) is just silly.”

Cruz laid out a series of questions about Hunter Biden, citing the House investigation arguing it was “baseless” to claim Trump was seeking an investigation of corruption involving the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings and the Bidens.

“That naturally opens the door to the President’s main defense: that there was more than enough evidence of corruption to justify an investigation,” Cruz tweeted.

He added: “Here are several Qs the House refused to answer (or said “I don’t know”): 1) how much did Burisma pay Hunter Biden? ($1 million a year, as publicly reported? More?) 2) what exactly did Hunter DO for that $1 million a year? 3) what did Joe Biden know about Hunter’s being paid $1 million a year by Burisma? (Joe & Hunter gave conflicting answers publicly.) 4) why didn’t Joe recuse himself from Ukraine matters when Hunter went on Burisma’s payroll? 5) when Hunter’s business partner John Heinz…”

The most remarkable thing here may be that no matter how obvious the media’s anti-Trump bias becomes, they somehow cling to the moral high ground to insist that they are not prejudiced in their reporting.
