RNC’s awesome ad from smug CNN jokers mocking Trump voters as country bumpkin, illiterate rubes

It appears the smug arrogance of left-wing CNN host Don Lemon, left-wing New York Times columnist Wajahat Ali and left-wing pretend Republican Rick Wilson has been a godsend for the Republican Party.

Responding to a viral, widely panned CNN segment from Saturday in which the three mocked President Donald Trump and his “rube” base, on Tuesday the Republican National Committee dropped an ad that used footage from the segment to remind the American people what the out-of-touch elitists on the left really think about them.

The clip began with 54-year-old Wilson mocking the president’s alleged lack of intelligence and labeling his base the “incredulous boomer rube demo” …

His condescending remarks were then contrasted alongside the equally condescending “deplorable” remarks of failed 2016 presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Also included were clips of:

  • Current Democrat candidates Pete Buttigieg and Joe Biden labeling the president’s supporters racists.
  • MSNBC’s Chris Matthews describing Trump’s base as “low information.”
  • Ali suggesting Trump voters don’t know basic geography.
  • Wilson suggesting Trump voters can’t perform basic math or read.

Throughout the whole segment, Lemon laughed and laughed and laughed.

After the segment initially aired Saturday, outrage bloomed, with conservatives pointing to the trio’s smug arrogance as one of many reasons why the president won the 2016 presidential election despite expectations otherwise — and why he’s reportedly poised to win the 2020 election despite being plagued by 24/7 negative media coverage.

In response, Wilson delivered a statement to The Spectator complaining about the Republican Party’s alleged “social anxiety” …

“Once again, the MAGA tough guy ‘f— your feelings’ crowd demonstrates that what really drives them is a grinding social anxiety fueled by a weaponized and monetized outrage machine,” he said.

It’s unclear what social anxiety — described by the Social Anxiety Association as “the fear of social situations that involve interaction with other people” — has to do with the gregarious president and his base.

It would seem the type of people who feel perfectly comfortable attending one of the president’s rallies and proudly proclaiming their support for him to the world aren’t the type apt to be suffering from social anxiety.

Speaking of which, during the president’s latest rally Tuesday evening in New Jersey, what appeared to be thousands of Trump supporters loudly and proudly hollered the following message for Lemon, Ali and Wilson:

In tweets posted early Tuesday evening, Wilson tripled down on his attacks by claiming Trump’s base “wants the freedom to attack, insult, demean, and abuse anyone who doesn’t aggressively worship Donald Trump” but “can’t stand anyone who punches back.”

The insinuation was that the president’s supporters are intolerant, small-minded rubes who cannot tolerate dissenting opinions. The actual facts strongly suggest otherwise.

While this data is admittedly a bit out of date, in 2016 a Pew Research Center poll found that “[i]t’s harder for Clinton supporters to respect Trump backers than vice versa.”

“Nearly six-in-ten registered voters who back Clinton (58%) say they have a ‘hard time’ respecting someone who supports Trump for president; 40% say they have ‘no trouble’ with it. Nearly the opposite is true among Trump supporters, with 56% saying they have no trouble respecting someone who backs Clinton and 40% saying they do have trouble with it.”

A year later, the center found that “[a]bout a third (35%) of Democrats and Democratic leaners say that, if a friend had voted for Trump, it would ‘put a strain on [the] friendship;’ a smaller share of Republicans and Republican leaners (13%) say the same about learning a friend had voted for Clinton.”

Now couple these findings with all the actual physical attacks, harassment, vandalism, etc., that Trump supporters young and old alike have faced across the country: here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, etc.

One side certainly is intolerant, but it doesn’t appear to be the right-wing one …

Wilson appears to believe that anyone who supports Trump is either an unrepentant bully or a money-hungry grifter. He’s entirely incapable of grasping the simple truth, which is that millions of Americans have clutched onto the president, his faults notwithstanding, because they view him as the only legitimate chance they have left to stop the left-wing insanity (think political correctness, identity politics, socialism) that’s destroyed the lives of thousands of gig workers in California, destroyed the “teen fiction” community, is slowly destroying comedy and has arguably already destroyed common sense, logic and reason.
