NYC Dept. of Ed chief gets up and flees the scene when town hall erupts in anger over school violence

A top-level official with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s radically left-wing administration fled like a coward Thursday after outraged parents confronted him at a packed town hall meeting over the administration’s disastrous culture of leniency.

Anger toward New York City Schools Chancellor Richard A. Carranza of the NYC Department of Education stemmed from policies that have allowed misbehaving, rule-breaking students slide at the expense of correctly behaving, law-abiding students.

One parent in attendance, Katty Sterling, yelled at Carranza about how officials at her daughter’s school did nothing after she was assaulted twice by a classmate.

“The other student is sitting in school getting all the privileges and what is my daughter doing? Sitting at home, sick, getting traumatized!” she shouted in anger.

Watch Sterling and other parents trying to confront Carranza in the video below:

Toward the end of the clip, an unnamed official closed the meeting, and Carranza scurried off the stage like the left-wing coward he happens to be.

As of Friday morning, there were zero stories from the demonstrably left-wing mainstream establishment media concerning what happened. Nor would there likely be any, given the media’s agenda vis-a-vis this growing issue.

During former President Barack Hussein Obama’s tenure in office, his administration pushed school districts across the country to reduce suspensions and be more lenient toward misbehaving criminals. Why? Because according to him and his supporters in the media, holding students accountable for their bad behavior is racist.

The bizarre theory is based on the indisputable fact that minority students typically face more suspensions and expulsions than their white and Asian counterparts. Thus, Obama and his media cohorts included, school discipline must be racist.

Over in left-wing cities and states, officials like de Blasio have gladly been implementing Obama’s demands. In California, for instance, it’s now illegal for public schools “to suspend students in first through fifth grade for willfully defying teachers or administrators,” according to Bay Area station KRON.

Similar policies have been pursued in NYC.

“City officials made a number of changes to the school discipline code last year, including making it more difficult to suspend students for longer than 20 days, and reducing the severity of consequences for some behaviors,” the New York Daily News notes.

For years teachers and researchers warned that these policies would only engender more misbehavior and thus hurt rule-abiding students.

“We have students who will spend an hour in the hallway just running and hiding from people, like it’s a game for them. A lot of them know no one is going to stop them, so they just continue,” one despondent Minnesota school teacher reportedly said to City Pages back in 2015.

But nobody listened. And now, after years of voting left-wing politicians into office, the citizens of NYC appear to be paying the ultimate price for their refusal to heed the words of experts.

According to the New York Post, local school officials did nothing when a male classmate recently “sexually hounded” one father’s daughter.

“The father said last month that [school] administrators never told him his daughter was being sexually hounded by a male classmate who once pulled down his pants in a classroom closet and asked a friend to fetch her for him,” the outlet reported.

No consequences were doled out until the unnamed boy groped his daughter. Only then was the punk kid arrested and forced to face consequences.

Sadly, members of the left don’t care. In fact, when the father tried to speak at the meeting about what happened to his daughter, officials shut him down.

“[P]anel members told him they were answering only questions that had been submitted in writing before the meeting — and that he was out of order,” the Post reported.

Local teachers reportedly feel just as angry as parents.

“In District 26, we feel that staffers are no longer respected and supported,” one teacher reportedly said at the meeting. “The lack of accountability and follow-through as related to discipline has caused a lowering of morale and an inability to effectively manage classrooms.”

But again, the left doesn’t care. If you try to search for any information on the school discipline/leniency problems cropping up across America, all you’ll find is endless propaganda about how school discipline is racist:

“Minority kids disproportionately impacted by zero-tolerance laws,” a headline at CNN reads.

“Racial disparities in school discipline are growing, federal data show,” another headline, this one from a Washington Post story published last year, adds.

“Black students faced greater rates of suspension, expulsion and arrest than their white classmates, according to federal data released Tuesday, disparities that have widened despite efforts to fix them,” the actual piece reads.

It was written to impugn Education Secretary Betsy DeVos for trying to roll back Obama’s disastrous discipline policies. The left hates her for this:

What you won’t find at either CNN or the Post are complaints from parents whose innocent, rule-abiding children have suffered because of leniency in discipline.

Just like the media have always prioritized the concerns of illegal aliens over those who’ve been victimized by illegal alien crime, the media have and continue to prioritize the concerns of misbehaving children over those of behaving ones.

They don’t give a damn and they never will, because just like every radical, they live by a “my way or the highway” attitude, never mind the innocent victims who invariably must suffer because of their ignorance and arrogance.
