Schiff announces sudden new ‘impeachment evidence’ on eve of articles transfer

Despite the rhetoric from Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., about their case to impeach President Donald Trump being “strong,” deep down, House Democrats seem to know they failed to deliver the goods and there’s no chance the U.S. Senate will convict the president.

A clue here is that on the eve of the day Pelosi will finally relent in her failed tactic of holding the two impeachment articles Democrats approved against Trump and send them to the upper chamber, they are still frantically trying to dig up evidence — the delay by Pelosi appears more and more to be a ploy for more time to make their case.

With the clock about to strike midnight on the partisan effort to unseat a duly elected president, House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., sent over new evidence to the House Judiciary Committee that will be given to the Senate in addition to the two articles of impeachment charging Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., and his panel are responsible for compiling the complete record of the investigation ahead of the Senate’s trial.

“Despite unprecedented obstruction by the president,” Schiff wrote Tuesday, “the committee continues to receive and review potentially relevant evidence and will make supplemental transmittals.”

Having already impeached President Trump, it’s clear that Democrats are still trying to dig up dirt on the president. It’s also becoming clear that even though Trump will likely be exonerated, they may go down this path all over again, filing new articles of impeachment.

The new evidence includes text messages, notes and other documents obtained from Lev Parnas, the indicted former associate of Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, U.S. News reported.

Included among the materials is a handwritten note from Parnas on stationery from The Ritz-Carlton in Vienna, Austria, that referenced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky being pressured to open an investigation against former Vice President Joe Biden.

The note said: “Get Zalensky [sic] to announce that the Biden case will be investigated.”

A May 2019 letter from Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani to Zelensky asking for a half-hour meeting is also part of the new evidence.

“In my capacity as personal counsel to President Trump and with his knowledge and consent, I request a meeting with you on this upcoming Monday, May 13th or Tuesday, May 14th,” Giuliani wrote in the letter.

Additional evidence, text messages between Parnas and Republican congressional candidate Robert Hyde, suggest former Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch’s movements may have been tracked.

“Wow. Can’t believe Trumo [sic] hasn’t fired this bitch. I’ll get right in that,” Hyde texted to Parnas, according to The Hill, which cited the released documents.

Another message from Hyde reportedly said, “they will let me know when she’s on the move.”

Through her lawyer, Lawrence Robbins, Yovanovitch is calling for an investigation.

“[T]he notion that American citizens and others were monitoring Ambassador Yovanovitch’s movements for unknown purposes is disturbing,” Robbins told The Hill. “We trust that the appropriate authorities will conduct an investigation to determine what happened.”
