Trump doesn’t want John Bolton blabbing national security secrets in impeachment trial

President Trump suggested that he might invoke executive privilege to block former National Security Adviser John Bolton from testifying at the Senate impeachment trial to keep him from spilling top-secret intel that would endanger American lives and the office of the presidency.

“I think you have to for the sake of the office,” Trump told Fox News host Laura Ingraham. The president was reacting to Bolton’s statements indicating that he was willing to testify.

President Trump said he’d have “no problem” with Bolton testifying, but is worried about jeopardizing national security and setting a dangerous precedent for future presidents.

“Especially a National Security Adviser — you can’t have him explaining all of your statements about national security concerning Russia, China, and North Korea – everything,” Trump cautioned. “We just can’t do that.”

President Trump said if it were up to him, he’d want Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and former Energy Secretary Rick Perry to testify, but can’t because of executive privilege.

“I would love everybody to testify,” Trump said. “I’d like Mick to testify. I’d like Mike Pompeo to testify. I’d like Rick Perry to testify. I want everybody to, but there are things that you can’t do from the standpoint of executive privilege.”

When Laura Ingraham asked about reports that Speaker Nancy Pelosi will finally turn over the articles of impeachment next week (after hijacking them for 23 days), Trump said it’s about time.

“It’s ridiculous,” President Trump said. “She should have sent them a long time ago. It just belittles the process. Nancy Pelosi will go down as the least successful Speaker of the House in the history of our nation. She has done nothing.”

President Trump also explained that the killing of Iranian terrorist Qassem Soleimani was necessary because he was planning to slaughter Americans in imminent attacks on four U.S. embassies.

“We will tell you that probably it was going to be the embassy in Baghdad,” Trump said. “I can reveal that I believe it probably would’ve been four embassies. Baghdad certainly would’ve been the lead. But it would’ve been four embassies that had been military bases. [The attacks] could’ve been a lot of other things too, but it was imminent.”

When asked about far-left Democrat Ilhan Omar siding with Iran over the United States, Trump said he’s not surprised since she has repeatedly expressed disdain for America and its ally Israel.

“She hates Israel,” President Trump said. “She hates Jewish people. It is incredible what has happened to the Democrats in Congress. They used to be supportive of Israel. Today, [the far-left Democrats] are supportive of her and AOC, Rashida Tlaib. They know nothing!”

As for leftist meltdowns over his decision to not alert the 535 members of Congress about the details of the hit on Soleimani beforehand, Trump said Congress has repeatedly leaked classified intel to the media, so they can’t be trusted with time-sensitive, top-secret information.

“I am certainly worried about [Democrats constantly leaking intel to the press],” President Trump said. “Can you imagine? They want us to speak to crooked, corrupt Adam Schiff [before launching a time-sensitive drone strike]? ‘Oh, Adam, we have somebody we have been trying to get for a long time. We have a shot at him right now. Can we meet to get your approval, Adam Schiff? Well, let’s do it in a couple of days.'”

Trump explained: “It doesn’t work that way. No. 1, they leak! Anything we give will be leaked immediately!”
