GOP Rep. Collins hits a major lib nerve when he says Dems are ‘in love with terrorists’

Rep. Doug Collins apparently hit a nerve with liberals who have hurled verbal attacks at him after he accused Democrats of being “in love with terrorists.”

The Georgia Republican has come under heavy fire from the left following an interview with Fox Business host Lou Dobbs in which he slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her party for the criticism of President Trump and the airstrike he ordered which killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani.

Dobbs slammed Democrats for their “ongoing effort” over the course of President Donald Trump’s time in office to “subvert” him and remove him from office.

“The Democrats are, tomorrow, talking about constraining his authorities as the commander-in-chief, vis-a-vis Iraq,” Dobbs said on “Lou Dobbs Tonight” Wednesday, referring to efforts to limit the Trump administration’s military actions against Iran.

Pelosi announced that the House will vote Thursday on a war powers resolution, declaring that the president lacks “a coherent strategy to keep the American people safe, achieve de-escalation with Iran and ensure stability in the region.”

This after the president addressed the nation on Wednesday, announcing sanctions against Iran after the regime launched more than a dozen missiles at two Iraqi airbases housing U.S. forces as an act of retaliation for the U.S. airstrike that killed Soleimani last week.

The president did not order retaliatory attacks but warned Iran to “abandon its nuclear ambitions and end its support for terrorism.”

Members of Congress “have serious, urgent concerns,” Pelosi said Wednesday, which were “not addressed by the president’s insufficient War Powers Act notification and by the administration’s briefing today.”

“How venal, how vapid can one party become?!” Dobbs asked Collins during his Fox Business show Wednesday.

“I did not think she could become more hypocritical than she was during impeachment,” Collins replied. “But guess what? Surprise, surprise. Nancy Pelosi does it again and her Democrats fall right in line.”

The Georgia congressman turned the focus to all the Democrats, saying “they’re in love with terrorists.”

“We see that. They mourn Soleimani more than they mourn our Gold Star families who are the ones who suffered under Soleimani,” he said, going on to point out the double standard of Democrats who were silent in the face of decisions involving war powers when it came to former President Obama.

“What does this say to the rest of the world? When you have a president who stands up and says we are going to be the voice of reason in the world. We’re going to take out a terrorist,” Collins continued. “Let’s remind everybody, Soleimani was a terrorist, someone who killed other people indiscriminately and we took him out, he’s no longer there. Iran is now reeling backwards … He should have been killed a long time ago. The president took him out in the proper way.”

The outrage was ignited on social media as liberals tore Collins apart for his comment.

Preet Bharara, the former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York who was fired by Trump in 2017,  slammed the lawmaker as an “ignorant a**hole” on Twitter.

Others also slammed Collins online.

Liberals melting down over Collins’s remarks didn’t seem to be calling out a Democratic congressman who reportedly said that the U.S. has a “crazy” leader but Iran does not, according to The Washington Post’s Dave Weigel.

And the left’s outrage over the “assassination” of the terrorist mastermind from Iran, complete with Hollywood celebrities offering condolences and apologies, extended even to 2020 presidential candidates with Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren even reaching out to Iran.

The lawmakers are set to speak with members of the National Iranian American Council, which played an important part in the Iran nuclear deal “echo chamber” under Obama.

But Democrats continue their pearl-clutching when exposed by those like Rep. Doug Collins.
