Donald Trump Jr. and others pummeled radically left-wing MSNBC talking head Joy Reid on social media this New Year’s Day after she smugly tried to draw a link between the recent US embassy attack in Baghdad and the 2012 Benghazi terror.
On Tuesday afternoon, hours after Iranian-backed militiamen stormed the U.S. Embassy in Iraq’s capital of Baghdad, Reid posted a tweet describing the situation in Iraq as “Trump’s Benghazi.”

The tweet contained a retweet of a left-wing bot (ironically enough, given the left’s complaints about bots) that catalogs some of President Donald Trump’s tweets.
Throughout Tuesday morning, President Donald Trump posted numerous tweets pertaining to everything from the situation in Iraq to his complaints about the Democrats’ impeachment efforts against him.
In one of those tweets, for instance, he wrote, “Read the transcript!”
Keep in mind this tweet was mixed in with dozens of other tweets pertaining solely to the situation in Iraq:
Iran killed an American contractor, wounding many. We strongly responded, and always will. Now Iran is orchestrating an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. They will be held fully responsible. In addition, we expect Iraq to use its forces to protect the Embassy, and so notified!

Very good meeting on the Middle East, the Military, and Trade. Heading back to The Southern White House (Mar-a-Lago!). Updates throughout the day.

The bottom line is the president wasn’t ignoring the situation. Yet Reid tried to imply otherwise in an attempt to accuse Trump of doing exactly what former President Barack Hussein Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had done when Islamic terrorists attacked a U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya, eight years earlier.
But as the president’s oldest son, Trump Jr., would later note in a set of rebuttal tweets posted throughout Wednesday, this narrative is complete bunk.
Look:
It’s nice to wake up in a country who once again leads like they should. When our embassy’s is under attack & they ask for help they actually get it… Immediately!
Yesterday’s action vs the disgraceful response at Benghazi is all you need to know about leadership then & now!
— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) January 1, 2020
“Trump’s Benghazi” was handled with decisive action, like an actual leader would respond. The response (since they actually bothered to respond, unlike Obama/Crooked) was really the anti-Benghazi response!
You’re welcome. https://t.co/pih1s9PfHl

I love having a President who will respond immediately to threats against Americans abroad.
You know one who isn’t influenced by The PC brigade and their feeling, but one who stands up for Americans in danger and puts their safety first.
— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) January 1, 2020
It’s a sad day when you can hear it in the media’s voice how upset they are that the Iraq embassy attack hasn’t turned into a disaster like Benghazi because this administration had the guts to actually take action & defend Americans. At least we know whose side they’re on!
— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) January 1, 2020
Trump Jr.’s father didn’t diddle and dawdle like Obama and Clinton. Nor he go back to bed.
He promptly deployed 100 U.S. Marines directly to the embassy and 750 U.S. Army paratroopers to the region. He also began prepping 4,000 soldiers from the Army’s 82nd Airborne Deployment-Ready Brigade for their own imminent deployment.
Nor did Trump try to blame the attack on the American people as Obama and Clinton had in 2012. Following the Benghazi attack, the pair spent days blaming it on a so-called “anti-Muslim” documentary produced by Nakoula Basseley Nakoula.
Instead the current president aimed the blame at the true culprit, Iran, as noted by Senate Judiciary Committee chair Lindsey Graham:
Very proud of President @realDonaldTrump acting decisively in the face of threats to our embassy in Baghdad.
He has put the world on notice – there will be no Benghazis on his watch.

To the Iranian government:
Be careful what you wish for — a country that depends on the ability to refine oil for its existence needs to be cautious.

President Trump, unlike President Obama, will hold you accountable for threats against Americans and hit you where it hurts the most.
Choose your battles wisely.

To our Iraqi allies:
This is your moment to convince the American people the US-Iraq relationship is meaningful to you and worth protecting.
Protect our American personnel. You will not regret it.

And so the idea that there’s even a scant equivalence between the now-resolved Baghdad situation and the Benghazi terror attack is just absurd.
But Reid doesn’t care, as evidenced by her stubborn decision to not delete her tweet. Nor do the media care. They’ve been busy falsely portraying the Iranian-backed militiamen as “mourners” and “protesters.”
It seems like nobody cares for the actual truth but the president, his immediate family and their growing army of fed-up supporters, including the following:
Benghazi:
-13-hour attack
-No military response
-4 Americans deadIraq:
-Militiamen (or “mourners according to NYT) storm US embassy
-immediate military response
-Air support
-Marines dispatched to reinforce
-No deaths so far, thank GodYeah, those sound exactly the same.

When help was requested from Obama’s State Department in Benghazi — THE CALLS WERE IGNORED.
When help was requested from President Trump’s State Department in Baghdad — HELP WAS SENT IMMEDIATELY.
That’s the difference between a Commander-in-Chief and a Community Organizer!

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton did nothing for our own at Benghazi.
They left them to die and then lied about it.
President Trump just sent 100 Marines to handle the Embassy attack in Iraq.
I stand with President Trump.

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton waited 13 HOURS to help Americans in Benghazi.
President @realDonaldTrump acted in 13 MINUTES to help Americans in Iraq.

Trump is flooding the zone in Baghdad with firepower while progressives all but pray for more dead diplomats and service members a la Benghazi.
