President Trump blasted Richard Fochtmann — a failed Democratic senatorial candidate — for gleefully celebrating the alarming spike in suicides among white males because he thinks that means there will be fewer Republican voters.
“What kind of animal is this?” Trump tweeted.
The president shared a 2017 video where Fochtmann gloated how “great” it is that white men are killing themselves. Fochtmann made the remarks while speaking at an event hosted by the Maine Democratic Party.

In 2016, Fochtmann ran for a seat in Maine’s State Senate but lost to Republican incumbent Garrett Mason in a landslide.
The 2017 cell phone video was verified as authentic by News Center Maine. It was taken at a “Values and Vision” community meeting hosted by the Maine Democratic Party.

In the clip, Richard Fochtmann said Democrats need more women and young people to vote out Republican lawmakers. Fochtmann then gleefully chirped that white men are committing suicide at higher rates, suggesting that’s good for Democrats.
Fochtmann cooed: “What we need in Maine is we need younger people [to vote]. We need to encourage as many young people [to vote]. We also need more women. Today I saw a thing that said a lot of men — white men — are committing suicide. I almost thought, ‘Yeah, great!’ Then I thought about it little more and I thought maybe I shouldn’t say that out in public.”
Fochtmann told the Daily Caller in 2017 that he was joking. However, he said it’s “a good thing” that whites will soon become a minority in the United States — a nation founded by white males.
“I’m a white male. I’m an old man, and I’m appalled by what’s happening to a lot of people my age and their lack of morality [for not opposing Trump]. There’s no big protest going on about [the Trump] administration.
The point of the joke [about white male suicides] is that it won’t be long that this won’t be a majority-white nation, and I think that’s a good thing.”
Fochtmann’s racist rant got almost no mainstream media attention at the time it surfaced. Naturally, CNN, MSNBC, and all the networks ignored it.
Imagine the media uproar if a Republican had cheerfully joked about “black suicides” or “Hispanic suicides.”
Jason Savage, the executive director of the Maine Republican Party, said he was disgusted that Democrats would celebrate suicide.
“The disturbing part is there is a collection of people in this state who would take humor or celebrate people taking their own lives, and those people were there at a Maine Democrat event,” Savage said. “If the shoe were on the other foot, Maine’s newspapers would have blown this up into a huge story — if it were a Republican [event] where something like this was said.”
In 2017, Fox News host Tucker Carlson reacted by saying, “Know this: If you’re a white male — or worse, a straight white male — they literally hate you and want you to die as soon as possible.”
In June 2016, Fox Business host Charles Payne examined why suicides among white males rose steadily during the Obama presidency.
Apparently, the “Tolerant Left’s” strategy to increase its voting bloc is to mass-import illegal aliens, allow illegals to vote, and cheerfully hope for white suicides.
