It’s the obvious truth for those of us on the political right that lefties lack common sense. They might possess a reasonable Intelligence Quotient, but that’s not the same as possessing sound and prudent judgment in practical matters. What we see is that many textbook-smart people on the left spout opinions which lack a factual basis.

Need examples? We see such lefties all over the place in politics. The current embrace of socialism by too many millennials and “aging hippies” reveals impaired judgment. Anyone who refuses to learn the painful lessons of the history of socialism will end up as a laughing stock in an argument.

Another example is those people who think there’s such a thing as a “free lunch”. The truth is that while someone, personally, might eat a free lunch, somebody else paid for that lunch.

Common sense also has fled from those who believe humans are perfectible creatures. Such a belief only takes hold in people who fail to understand human nature. For example, expecting leftist politicians to scuttle self-interest and hold the public’s best interests above their own is a fool’s game.  It rarely happens. To believe that altruism will usually trump self-interest among those imperfect humans who govern is to misunderstand human nature.

Sure, some people have higher altruistic beliefs than others, but when the chips are down and life, limb, and power are at stake, the great mass of humans cling to self-interest. As they should. As Ayn Rand explained, selfishness is a virtue. It also propagates the species. And if a leftist does not understand that, if they believe humans are perfectible, they are wandering in the intellectual wilderness. They won’t do well in life’s battles.

Today’s Democratic Party will get trampled if they don’t acquire some common sense and back off their quest for perfect-society utopias. Pie-in-the-sky economic theories won’t cut it.  Millennial naiveté and lack of real-life experiences are a ship heading for the reefs. No-border immigration policies which allow anybody to come to the U.S. who wants in, will result in mongrelization and will erase American exceptionalism among nations. Dumbing-down our country by allowing criminals, budding terrorists, and people with no talent to migrate here and to dilute The American Way is a form of treason, a betrayal of our history of accomplishments. It is a safe bet you wouldn’t allow unknown migrants to come and live in your home if they violate house-rules and sponge off your good will— so why allow it at the national level? And yet, that’s what too many Democrats want, and they want you the taxpayer to pick up the tab.

If anyone doubts that the leaders of the left lack common sense, just review the cockamamie schemes and proposals of the Democratic presidential candidates. It’s hard to find a more preposterous list of unworkable proposals and bad ideas. Only one of those people has ever run a business, none of them have created anything lasting, especially including jobs, but they want to tear down what other, smarter, hard-working people have produced. Moderation is absent, and their revolutionary agendas seem to be all taxes and spending, deficit budgets and zero growth.

They paint business as the bogeyman, blaming business for global warming, a high prison population, lethargic wages, dirty air and waste, affordable housing shortages, high medical costs. Every candidate on the debate stage supports health care for life for illegal immigrants. This means that every Democrat running believes that if any immigrant crosses our border illegally, it’s not illegal anymore. But how do they think these narratives will play among most voters, when their “solution” is more government and more power to the Feds, paid for by gigantic new taxes.

The main sound coming from the debates is a screech of tires as the Dem party swerves hard to the left. It is not your parents’ Democratic Party. This bunch of debaters is so off-base, it may be that even Bill Clinton would no longer qualify as a Dem. And all because common sense has been abandoned, crumbled, under the weight of their collective radical agendas.
