President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani admitted Monday that he had indeed plotted the ouster of former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, thus confirming what she’d claimed while testifying to Congress.
However, whereas Yovanovitch testified to the House Intelligence Committee in November that Giuliani’s efforts to oust her had been rooted in his displeasure with her alleged anti-corruption work, he maintained that the opposite is true.
“I forced her out because she’s corrupt!” he said to Fox News’ host Laura Ingraham.

He then proceeded to describe evidence he’d obtained showing that Yovanovitch had actively conspired to stymie his investigation into credible allegations of corruption surrounding former Vice President Joe Biden and the 2016 presidential election.
First she allegedly blocked him from bringing former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin to the United States to testify. Shokin was terminated from his post in 2016 because of a quid pro quo threat from then-Vice President Joe Biden — whose son, Hunter, just happened to be working for the very firm he’d been investigating at the time.
When Yovanovitch testified to Congress last month, she claimed Shokin was denied a visa because of his corruption. But according to Giuliani, that’s a lie.
“I came back with a document that will show unequivocally that she committed perjury when she said that she turned down the visa for Mr. Shokin because of corruption,” he said.
“The fact is on the record in the State Department’s own records, the reason given is because he had an operation and hadn’t recovered yet. The operation was two years before. It’s documentary evidence that she committed perjury.”
He also spoke of four additional witnesses whom she allegedly blocked from testifying about both the Biden matter and the 2016 election. Evidence shows that certain Ukrainian figures colluded with the Democrat Party to affect the election in favor of then-Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton.
“I have four witnesses who will testify that she personally turned down their visas because they were going to come here and give evidence either against Biden or against the Democratic Party,” he said. “There’s no question that she was acting corruptly in that position and had to be removed. She should have been fired if the State Department weren’t part of the deep state.”

He added Monday that claims that Yovanovitch is the good guy — that she’s the one who was trying to eliminate corruption in Ukraine — are complete bullschiff, and that efforts to portray her as an angel are part of a “cover-up.”
“When I interviewed witnesses … they told me that she was specifically holding up visas in order to obstruct the investigation of collusion in the Ukraine and specifically to obstruct the Biden investigation,” he said.
“I have that testimony under oath. I gave it to the State Department. They never investigated a single witness. When they say that she’s innocent, it’s innocent without investigation. It’s a cover-up.”
Moreover, Giuliani continued, he has taped recordings with high-powered Ukrainian officials alleging that corruption in Ukraine skyrocketed during former President Barack Hussein Obama’s tenure in office — and that Yovanovitch was a key “contributor to the corruption.”
While she denied all the allegations against her in testimony last month, the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine did admit that she’d never raised concerns when, during the height of the 2016 election, several top-level Ukrainian players had begun publicly smearing then-Republican GOP nominee Trump.
“Remember when she was asked at the end by [Rep.] Jim Jordan about how many things the Ukrainians had done, the statements that were made that he should be destroyed, that his campaign should be destroyed, that he was insane?” Giuliani said.
“She was asked did you ever go complain about that to the Ukrainian government? This is foreign interference into the election, right? The answer was no.”

“Also, when she talks about Shokin being corrupt, how come she doesn’t talk about the candidate she has been supporting, [former Ukrainian Petro] Poroshenko, who stole everything that didn’t move?” Giuliani continued.
“He is right now under investigation for taking $100 million in bribes. She was close to him. Biden was close to him. If she was concerned about corruption, why weren’t they worried her friends who were taking billions?”
In fact, right before Poroshenko, who is indeed under investigation for corruption, was elected out of office earlier this year, he issued a statement offering his “full support” to Yovanovitch.
“I would like to mention the important role of U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch in promoting Ukraine-U.S. relations. And I emphasize that she, as representative of the United States and U.S. President Donald Trump, a great friend of Ukraine and a great friend of mine, enjoys my full support,” he reportedly said.
